I know it should be technically possible, has anyone found a Tivo HME app to do this? I'm talking live browsing of the Youtube.com site, not uploading converted FLV files to my Tivo.

No, but an apple tv does it pretty well.

How exactly would be be technically possible? HME can't display video. So you might be able to browse the site as with a web browser using some HME app that loaded the web page, took a snapshot as an image, then served that static image to the TiVo. But you wouldn't be able to access any of the video, so what would be the point of surfing YouTube?

I think he is thinking about using an HMO HME combo. Like Galleon ToGo and Videocasting work.
I have been trying to edit Galleon Videocasting to enable that but there are many hard things about it. (note: I am no Developer only a hobbyist)

It could work, with a lot of futzing, PC conversion, and waiting for conversion and download to occur.

It is jsut the TiVo itself doesn't have the horsepower to play flv video, and it virtually a hardware MPEG2 system.
