I just wasn't meant to watch Brotherhood I guess

So I've been stockpiling episodes of Brotherhood to watch since I missed it last year. Tonight I sat down to watch the first 2.

The first one was a ReplayTV show transfer (via Poopli.com) and there's a problem with the file; it skips the first 37 minutes!

I really wanted to watch it tonight so I began to think of alternatives.

    - I could (and did) request it again from Poopli but that can take days

    - I ripped the file to my computer to see if it would play there, it wouldn't

    - I tried to use iSquint to change the file to see if that would fix the problem; it didn't

    - I tried to watch it via OnDemand but for some stupid reason my cable company doesn't have episodes 1-3 available

    - I tried to download it via Amazon Unboxed... for that show you can't download to TiVo, just a PC

    - I tried accessing it via Swivel Search to see if that would let me download to TiVo... Swivel Search must be down because I get stuck at "Please wait..." forever

    - I tried purchasing it via iTunes but my computer doesn't have the horsepower to play it so there's $2 blown

    - I'm currently downloading a torrent... but it's not going to be ready until the morning.

    Oh well :(

    ARGH! It gets worse!

I just watched the torrent of episode 1 and sat down to my ReplayTV to watch episode 2 which I had received from someone. But it's the wrong episode! The names of each episode are so close I requested the wrong one! D'oh!

Back to torrent, I guess... sheesh!

I dunno. I had been wanting to see it for a while. I put the DVDs for season 1 in my Netflix Queue. I have watched the first 2 episodes.. but that was like 6 weeks ago now. I have not gone and watch the next 2, nor the others from the first season.

If it is not meant to be not meant to be....

I certainly didn't find it to be something I absolutely had to see after seeing those first two episodes.

    Good luck in your quest.

DVD rental costs money too I guess, but it's usually not that much.

But to the point, the OP mentions spending money for same on iTunes. If you are gonna spend the $$ there, then why not rent discs from Blockbuster (or their .com operation) or Netflix, etc.?

Why not rent? 'Cause I wanted to watch it NOW! ;)

Anyway, I finished the first two (#2 came down on the torrent MUCH faster than #1 did; only took about an hour), now I'm onto #3 and beyond which I recorded myself from Showtime so I should be OK.

It's good but not hooking me immediately like I remember The Wire doing. But comparison to The Wire is high hopes indeed.

Follow-up plz: want it now + time it took to find torrents, download, etc., is less than time it would take to get to the local video rental place (Hollywood, Blockbuster, etc)?

I understand want it now, but I don't necessarily see where want it now is really that much delayed to go find a copy that you know will work for you versus investing the time that you did to come here and explain how things didn't work for you in getting it for you for your target 'now' period.

'Cause it was late, I was hungover and didn't want to leave the house, and my car isn't cooperating and the one Blockbuster in walking distance has a ****** selection.

    Need any more follow-up?

    Jeez.
