    No.

    No.

Get a subscription, sell it on eBay, give it to charity, give it as a gift, paperweight, doorstop, etc...

I believe the account has to be active and in good standing with the MRV Setting set through TIVO.com

In order to enjoy the Multi-Room Viewing (MRV) and transfer features of TiVo Desktop with that spare TiVo, it must have a Media Access Key (MAK) assigned to it, which can only be obtained with an active subscription to the TiVo service.

No. A subscription is required. It was my mistake when I put "More than likely, the answer is no. It depends on the model of TiVo." I was thinking about the Series1 (and some Series2 w/DVD?) being able to record without a subscription. I'll fix my post (again).

    Potato and pen.
Really off topic, at this point, but the Humax DVD TiVos won't record without being subbed, but the Toshiba and Pioneer units can. Don't believe you'd be able to do transfers or MRV with them, tho'. Their "TiVo Basic" features are pretty limited.
