Another post made reference to new TIVO's having a 50 season-pass limit...some said that was not a problem because if you had more than that you needed to get a life...WELL...

I have a Sony SERIES 1 (remember them?) - purchased it a week before 9/11 (2001), and except for a blown modem (easily fixed with an external modem) it has worked fine for over 6 years. Over the years as I made season passes and the shows were cancelled, I simply moved the passes up to the top of the priority list, on the off chance that networks will "burn" unaired episodes (sometimes late at night, sometimes in a marathon, usually when the other networks have a "lock" (final four, superbowl, etc.). At any rate, as of now I have over 200 season passes...of those, maybe 15 are "current", the rest are either kid's stuff or "Legacy" season passes.

I was just wondering if there are any others like me out there...either with a series one (with lifetime pass) or a lot of SP's and Wishlists (I have maybe 100 of those as well)?

There is no limit to the amount of season passes you can have.

    Um, what's a life?

I have 50 season passes and I've only had my Tivo a year... probably would have more if I had a larger hard drive (but then, when I made the switch to Tivo, I cleaned out a closet-full of recorded VHS tapes).

No tivos have a Season Pass Limit.

You are thinking of the Directv HR20 which has a 50 Season Pass Limit.

I've got about 110 SP's but the majority of those are shows that are still on. I've deleted a bunch from shows that have been cancelled, otherwise I'd have more. I try to keep it at around 100 though otherwise I am recording faster than I can watch and have to delete shows to make room without watching them anyway (2 Tivos, 1 500GB HDD, 1 300GB HDD).

    Tetspa,

For the occasional, burned off, randomly played episode, be it current or older, you may want to create an Auto-Record Wishlist. Program ID info can change such that the Season pass won't catch it. To be safe, the wishlist may be more helpful for you.

I pruned my SP list a foew weeks ago. Decided to give American Chopper & Hot Rod a rest for a while/ I am going to pull some daily cable stuff for November/December, and catch up in movies and things.

Sorry for the dumb question, but a Season Pass just means all new episodes are being recorded. right? I just got the Tivo a few days ago and wanted to make sure I wasn't paying extra for anything. Thanks.

The best way to explain a season pass is with an illustration. For example you can set up your TiVo for a "Season Pass" to NCIS on channel 3 and it will record all episodes of that program on that channel. There are options to record only first run programs, etc. It has nothing to do with money. It is explained in your manual.

To catch NCIS on all channels you would make a Wishlist for the Title NCIS.

A season Pass records the specified program from the specified channel the SP is made from. You can choose First Run,First Run and Repeats, or All with duplicates. In the event on inadequate guide data to determine First Run, Repeat, or other, the TiVo will take the precaution to record it.

Unless you have some weird provider, you don't pay extra per program.
