HR10-250 with WD sata and adaptor

    Does anyone know which exact WD 1TB drive will work in a HR10-250?

    WD10EADS - cant get it to work.
    WD10EAVS - cant get it to work.
    WD10EACS - got one to work before, but not anymore.

    Anyone know what the problem is with the older verses the newer drives. Doesn't make sense to me yet how a given drive wouldn't work. Was this ever figured out?

    It appears that a SG 1TB will work fine right?

    The drive has to be a PATA drive. Some have gotten SATA drives to work with a PATA to SATA adapter.

    I suggest you look in the TiVo Upgrade Center.

    I forgot to mention that I have the Sata/IDE adaptor and have used them with 750GB drives without a problem.

    Which specific drive works and why most all WD newer drives wont work is really my questions. Curious as to what changed in the WD drives for this to happen.

    Have you asked in the Underground forum? Or the Upgrade forum?

    Those guys know more about this stuff than I do.

    Which adapter are you using? Have you tried more than one adapter with the WD drives? There's a thread around here somewhere discussing the PATA-SATA adapters and which ones work best.
