I have two HR10-250 of which I only need 1 (not enough TV's) I am wondering can I just take the drive out of the 2nd 1 and add it to the 1st and double my recording time. If this can not be done what else can I do with the other 1.

Unless Directv stops allowing others to add purchased directivos to accounts, you should be able to sell the HR10-250 on ebay for quite a bit more than the cost of a brand new larger than 250 gb hard drive (which is what came in the original hr10-250) and the cost of the bracket kit you will want to install the 2nd hard drive in your dtivo.

However, you could decide to add the second hard drive to your existing setup. You will lose any recordings on the second drive and will need to use something like mfstools software to add a second drive to your one drive tivo.
