I like to watch the Today show in the morning while I get ready for work, but I only want to record the first 30 minutes of the 4 hour show. 30 minutes in, it turns into the housewife show which I have no interest in, but the first 30 minutes has a good recap of the the news of the previous day and overnight.

Is there a way to do this? It lets you record longer than a show is, but it seems there is no option to end the recording early.

    Any ideas?

    Mission...
Setup a repeating 30 minute manual recording for all week days.

    Just to tag onto this...

I like to catch the last 15 minutes of the local morning news show, and the first half hour of Today (like you). The last 15 minutes gives me all the local news I need.

So my manual recording is 45 minutes, from 6:45CT to 7:30CT. Daily, no weekends. Keep at most 2.

My point being you can cross shows if you need to. As long as it's a contiguous time block, you can do what you want.

I'm curious. If you are watching it live, then why the need to record it?

They didn't say they watched it live.

They *could* record the whole thing, but I expect they're just trying to save recording space, as well as avoiding tuners tied-up recording content they're not interested in.
