Our local PBS has split into several groupings so that instead of just 5 it now has 5.1, 5.2, etc, but these don't show up on Tivo. What can I do about this? Thanks.

Are you getting your signal via cable or OTA?

Do you mean you don't get any signal for a channel?
Or do you mean that you don't get any program guide for a channel that you receive?

If it just happened you may just need to do a channel rescan (assuming OTA)

I just looked at some of your previous post and see you've posted in other threads about having cable. My guess is either your cable provider does not carry all of the PBS channels (mine doesn't), or these are QAM channels that TiVo does not provide guide data for.

Your cable provider may have just started populating the virtual channel data that Tivo requires to adequately and consistently find these channels.

It would help if you would clarify what you received before this event.

Sorry that I was unclear. We have Comcast cable with cable cards in the Tivo. I still get the 'original' channel 5 for PBS. However, as of Feb 1, our local PBS affiliate added several 'dot' channels (5.1, 5.2, etc.) with various groupings of programs. These channel numbers do not appear on Tivo. Typically you get a "change in lineup" message from Tivo that gives channels that were added/deleted but not so in this case. Maybe it's a Comcast thing and I need to ask them about it. Thanks.

Assuming that the original channel 5 is analog, it sounds like Comcast just added the digital channels. However, if you have cable cards, I would expect to see the digital channels as 3 digit numbers (e.g., 205) rather than 5.1. I would recommend downloading the channel lineup from the web site and see where the channels are supposed to be. Then you might want to call Comcast about the descrepancy.

Can you tune these channels on live TiVo? My bet is yes. These are QAM channels. You can tune them. You can set manual recordings. TiVo does not get guide data for them. As vstone says, you should be getting HD versions in the upper but non "." Comcast channels.

You can call Tivo and tell them that the lineup is wrong (you used to be able to do this on the web but they took that down for some reason -- I have no idea if it has been reinstated).
