How much does Comcast charge for a 2nd Cablecard in an additional TIVO?

I am thinking of using 1 for recordings and 1 for live TV.

When I tried using the same one for both, it really bogged down the system and it became slow and unresponsive.
    Thanks.

What TiVo are you using that it becomes slow an unresponsive from just recording and watching live TV? My Roamio never has this problem. Maybe it's just time to upgrade to a newer model.

It may depend by region. I have 2 TIVOS each with a cablecard with no fees.

At the time I was a customer, IIRC it was $7.50 a month for the second card ($10 - $2.50 credit for customer-owned equipment), but they were in the midst of changing their price schedule.

However, your diagnosis of your problem doesn't match anyone else's experience, and is highly implausible.

I pay $5.00 per month for two cable cards from Suddenlink. Invoice does not specify if it's $2.50 per card, or Just $5.00 for an additional card...

I do agree with others that there is something wrong with your system if it runs slow for the reasons stated.

I use two Tivos because sometimes 6 tuners just is not enough, especially during Football/Basketball season... lol

A Tivo is usually always recording watching Live TV or not....

Now if they would just offer split screen viewing...

Depending on package, but if you don't have any Comcast TV boxes then the first cable card is free and you get a $2.50 credit. If you get a second cable card for another device, like another Tivo or HDHR Prime, then that card will be $9.95 and you'll get another $2.50 credit. So basically 2 cable cards would be about $5.00 total.

If you have a Comcast tv box then each cable card would be $9.95 and also each would get a $2.50 credit. So about $15.00 total.

Yes. This is true if your area and TV package are under the old Comcast system. If you're now on their new "Simple & Easy" system (which has 3 base TV packages named Basic, Extra and Preferred), then your package doesn't include the cost of a first Comcast set-top box, so I don't think you still get the $2.50 credit for taking a CableCARD instead of their box. (Their boxes are $5/mo each to rent under this system and it looks like neither the Service to an Additional TV or the HD Technology Fee applies here.) But your first CableCARD is still free. No idea if there's a charge for a second one, or if they even offer a second one under this new system.

Roamio plus 6 tuner with upgraded 8TB hard drive about 90% filled. To be fair, the Roamio may have other issues as well. the HDMI port stopped working and most viewing happens over the TIVO Mini. It often resets randomly,etc..

Maybe a normal Roamio would be ok under the same conditions?

    Thanks.

Very nice. Are you in the Orlando area? I'm am in South Florida. Does Comcast know the cablecards are in 2 separate TIVO or maybe they think they are in the same box?

    Thanks.

My Roamio Plus is 6 years old and still works like a champ. It routinely supports viewing at 3 Minis while recording multiple programs simultaneously without any lagging or slowdown issues. I'm still on the stock 1TB hard drive that came with the unit and running the old TE3 software, so maybe that makes a difference. Is your Roamio running TE3 or TE4? I've heard that TE4 can slow things down.

This is what I was quoted for a second!

I'd suggest ignoring @ NashGuy's speculation and WAG post #9. He's likely NO FIRST HAND KNOWLEDGE!!!

I agree with all others that mention TiVo issues are more than likely.

If you're nearing end of contract if there was a 'DEAL' available that included an XG1V4 I'd certainly consider an add of it. I have a 3TB Roamio in a 2nd room, a Mini and an XG1V4 @ the main all with Ethernet and I regret it NOT.
