I love Becki Newton and hope she sticks around.
At this point, the care has left me.
Becki Newton was the only thing that saved this episode.
That ending was just totally, wtf. It seems absolutely out of left field, I don't remember anything leading up to that where Ted would say that seriously.
Other than the previous 5-6 seasons of the show where we've seen that the most most significant relationship of Ted's adult life is with Robin, and here they are both alone and wishing for companionship?
I really, REALLY don't want to see them go down the Ted/Robin path again, but if this is what they have to do to extricate Ted from his current d-bag spiral, then I'm all for it. Carter Bays/Craig Thomas have been talking for a while about wanting to get Ted back on the long term relationship path, and I feel this is the first step they've taken to that end. I don't imagine it'll last long, and if they understand Robin's character at all after six years, she'll say no immediately.
But aside from the last five seconds, it was my favorite episode of the season.
Same. I just came to the thread to see if I missed anything good. Turns out I saved 22 minutes of my life.
Me neither. I never really cared who the mother was. I just want funny stuff on my tv. And while it ha neither been laugh out loud funny nor completely dull, I see this show as I always have. A 20 minute diversion that may make me laugh. Thats all it ever was.
I have no idea why I come into these threads expecting anything other than the trite "it used to be better" complaints. Usually it is the same as ever for most of these shows but the fatigue of watching the same characters wears on people who always need a new high.
This show is pretty much at the same level it always was. At times clever. At times insightful. But most of the time just straight forward sitcom.
I disagree. It feels a LOT more forced now than it used to. Barney's not as fun. Ted's just lame. I couldn't give two craps about Robin. Lily and Marshall still have moments, but are still kinda lame.
I don't care who the heck the mother is. I used to. Now I just find myself wishing it would end.
I'm still recording only because I have a Tivo to do it.
[rant]I had high hopes for Robin and Kevin, but I know better.
We didn't need Barney's new GF to be a stripper, I thought that was a cheap way out.
But more than anything the Ted/Robin "I love you" was totally wrong and didn't fit for where they're supposed to be taking us, that was where I felt totally and completely cheated. [/rant]
As Angie implies.. it's just not fun anymore.
Wow, I thought this episode was VERY funny.
Oh, glad for the reminder about the 'fake pregnancy'.. I was misremembering that episode, and couldn't remember how that was resolved, while watching this one talking about her not being able to have kids.
Out of what?
When Ted said, "it was right in front of us all along" and started circling the letters I thought for sure it was ging to be "GTL" and they would "Gym, Tan, Laundry" before the next train.
Cheap way out of having the character not be a growth opportunity for Barney, IMNSHO she's written as a stripper so that she's not a path for Barney to grow in the relationship. There was just no reason IMO for the stripper part to exist, she worked better just as a person, no need for a hook.
She knew he wears suits all the time, she knew he spends a lot of time in strip clubs. She knew these things because she's a stripper in the club he goes to. That's why she is written as a stripper.
I like that she's a stripper. Why can't Barney have a mature relationship with a stripper? Are they not allowed to be proper girlfriend material? Thank god she isn't some angelic girl bringing Barney to the light.
Yeah, they're not all insane, only most of them. Some of them really are just good girls trying to pay their way through college.
I think it makes it more interesting to see how long they date before Barney figures out that she's a stripper, and what he does at that point.
Diane... did you not see Pretty Woman?
ok, point taken, but I still don't have to like it
I just wanted her to be that smart and intuitive
*snort* oh don't even get me started!
