    Thank you.

p.s. And I'll put my vote in on the new Hydra APPS approach being stupid. I shouldn't have to continually wade through all available streaming apps to get to the ones I want.

I'm not seeing any difference other than a text list of apps versus thumbnails. Actually fewer steps (Tivo - 4 - then arrow around) for a task you might spend 30 seconds per month doing. Not a big deal.

Point taken. But really, how often do you add/remove apps to your Tivo?

My comment had nothing to do w/ managing the apps. When *using* the system and looking to launch an app, I shouldn't have to wade through all possible available apps. It's like owning a Roku but having to go to the Channel Store to launch an app.

You don't have to do that at all. That's why they have Favorite apps and home screen shortcuts. It's literally one button press for me to launch any of the apps I routinely use, way less than what it took on the old UI. Plus, even if you do use the Apps shortcut first, it remembers to go straight to your Favorites list.

Some of my universal remote app launch macros were close to a dozen steps with the old UI. Now they're all just 2 steps. I find it much quicker and easier to launch apps on Hydra. In fact, that's one of the biggest reasons I stuck with Hydra instead of rolling back.

To add/remove an app, you still have to wade through the same list of all apps on the old UI instead of wading through pictures of them on the new one.

In the old UI, you had one configuration screen for apps, where checking the box of an app put it in your apps list AND included it in searches/1Ps. Now they've split that into several config screens for more granular control. You check the box to control search behavior, add/remove to/from your apps list using Favorites, define quick launch using home shortcuts or launch any app from the full apps list.

If you think it's subjective, then you didn't understand my post. Using your Roku analogy, Favorites (or Apps-Favorites) is the list of apps on your Roku home screen. Apps-All is every app in the app store. Adding to Favorites = installing from the App store. Home shortcuts = individual app buttons on Roku remote. Yes, you can also launch an app from the list of all apps, but anybody using an app more than once would most likely add it to Favorites. Nobody in his/her right mind would use the full apps list exclusively. So when using the system and launching an app, you do it from Favorites or Home (small lists). When looking to "install" an app, that's the only time you have to see the full list, which is no different than what you have to do on the old UI.

I understand entirely how it works with Hydra, having had it since the beta, and didn't require the overview... but appreciate the effort and know that it'll be useful to others.

But the thing is... whether the new approach is preferable to the previous is entirely subjective, "personal preference" meaning what it does. Our views differ.
