I have my roamio feeding into my Yamaha receiver via HDMI my wife has great hearing I do not so I would like to be able to use Bluetooth headphones simultaneously with with my surround speakers from my receiver. So my question is can I use the optical outlet on the roamio to feed a Bluetooth transmitter and still have sound feeding thru the HDMI to the receiver or this this an either or situation. Any suggestions ?

All audio & video outputs are active on a Roamio. Since the main speaker will still be active, the add-on wireless headphone "system" needs to have low latency or you will have a slight echo. I have the A/V output on my Roamio feeding rf wireless speakers. I was using Sony headphones and they have a lot of latency. I don't have Bluetooth.

Also note that when you power off the AVR, the optical will still be active.
