it didn't help that she kept revealing new secrets every time she needed his help, either.

President's helicopter went down. Taliban sees the smoke and an Escort helicopter looking for the crash so they investigate. The Escort helicopter fires on them so the Taliban shoots down the Escort helicopter.

And I should add, in the real world at least, what the Russians want first is control (e.g., Syria, Iraq, etc.). Disruption is what they will settle for in places they can't have control (e.g., the US, the EU). Having the US and Pakistan at war would not suit Russian interests anywhere near as much as embarrassing the US and getting control over the region themselves. Playing along with Carrie would help achieve that goal, since the embarrassment (humiliation) of the world discovering the US was completely and utterly wrong about what happened, and acted very rashly and impulsively on the basis of that bad intelligence would serve to make the US much less important in the region, to the benefit of Russia.

Which is also classic Carrie...her blind pursuit of what she perceives as being the right thing even at the expense of US interests. (Not that there are any good outcomes, given the way the show has set things up!)

Not only that but one of the most important men in the world was flying on a crappy just replaced helicopter. That is embarrassing.

Thanks for this post. I have been struggling to wrap my head around why Gromov would help Carrie all the way to this point - what good is the Black Box to Russia?
It still doesn't explain why he helped her all that time before he knew about the Black Box, though.

Yeah, I don't get that either. Every guy on this show finds Crazy Carrie irresistible. I don't see the attraction.
    Brody
    Quinn
Saul (an affair was at least implied before the show's timeline)
Max (poor guy died still pining away)
    Otto, German Billionaire dude
Jonas, who works for German Billionaire dude
    Dante
    Yevgeny

I don't agree with either of these two. I don't recall any affair implied with Saul, and Max was just a good friend. I never saw him "pining away". He was always just trying to do the "right thing."

I also thought they once (long ago) implied an old affair with Saul. And Max, well, he's been doing her bidding to the most extreme imaginable extent for the entire series! Including committing multiple felonies.

    In front of...
We already saw that quote in the story. Saul said it to Haqqani when Haqqani said he did not kill the Presidents.

I think it's available via streaming early.

But in the future, how about we don't post anything until it airs for most people. It's hard to avoid spoilers when the posts show up in the email notifications.
I don't think that's asking too much to wait a few hours. Thanks.

It hits the app sometime around Sunday morning/early afternoon.

I keep forgetting to look at the damned e-mail titles before opening them and I wind up spoiling it for myself too, I'd be on board with Hank's recommendation.

I don't think the two posts about the ep spoiled anything. Looked to me like the posters were acting honorably, knowing that they were "early risers."

Yep - no spoilers. But I'll wait in the future.

The Showtime Anytime app drops the episode at midnight.
