I was kind of surprised, really - I was watching Ep 7 (F*er Shot Me) last night and it just rolled into playing tonight's ep. So I watched it.

Non-spoilery (and non-political) comments - if the people in the NSA, CIA/SpecOps, and WH are really as dumb as depicted on this show, I'm gonna start rooting for the virus. The FBI at least hasn't done anything stupid, yet.

Also, this has been bugging me since VP (now President) Hayes was introduced - why did President Warner appoint someone from the other party as VP? I may be mistaken but when a President resigns (Keane), everybody in the line of succession doesn't just move up a rung. I realize that last season was a weird sequence of Warner invoking the 25th on Keane-Keane gets reinstated-Keane then resigns. But when a VP becomes President, he appoints his new VP (subject to Congressional approval) - it's not the Speaker of the House. Did Warner say he was going to do this last season, and I just forgot?

And it's highly unlikely (even for Homeland) that President Hayes would keep Wellington on as COS, even during a crisis.

I can't believe they killed Max. And damn, Carrie, stop blaming Saul and look at yourself, telling him to get that black box. It's your fault.

...although that's been a recurring theme on this show (Carrie getting people to do her bidding [especially Max], regardless of the danger or consequences), and she's been getting called on it more and more...I have a feeling they're going somewhere with that.

I thought this was the last episode of the series...and I was okay with it! It would be a decent ending. Carrie starting a life outside the US. Saul still fighting the good fight. Americas leaders as corrupt and stupid as they are in real life. War continues in the middle east. Max has not been left behind. Dont get mne wrong, I am looking forward to the next 5 (?) episodes but this would have satisfied me.

I think there are only two more episodes.

It would be very Homeland-y for this all to be an elaborate ruse to embed Carrie with the meddlesome Russians, but I don't think they'd sacrifice Max for that.

They killed Max last week, no?

I don't know where this thing is going, how there can be any kind of resolution. And do we know what Carrie heard on the black box? I couldn't really hear anything interesting, mostly just cockpit chatter about them gong down.

She heard that the chopper wasn't shot down, it just crashed.

Which kinda blows away the new president's rationale for going to war with Pakistan...

It looks like we have a Rasputin (Claire's Husband) in the white house so I suspect it will end with some reveal on him

And since she lost it to her the Russian handler, we’ll hear her tell Saul what she heard on the orange black box and saying “you have to believe me” to which Saul will reply “I do, but no one else will”

The only believable resolution to this Season (and Series) is for Carrie to escape to another country and hope not to get caught, because by putting Americans in risk of death (“But Saul, you have to believe me, Yevgeny said they would only be held overnight so I could retrieve the black box”), and then losing control of the black box because she couldn’t resist kissing Yevgen, well, there is no believable way out of this.

Not just kissing him...I think she blew it when she so blatantly tried to manipulate him. He seemed to be more or less on her side until she agreed to sleep with him, but only after she got her way. I think that was the last straw; up until that point I think he was willing to work something out that would help both countries.

Nah,I think he always planned to betray her (he's a 'planner'). The russians want disruption in the area, not peace.

Well, and "the Americans" want war. I think Carrie and Yevgeny were looking for something better than their respective countries wanted...until Carrie pulled a Carrie on him.

The escort helicopter was shot down, they had video of that.
One hellava coincidence that right after the helicopter with the presidents went down due to mechanical failure, the escort was shot down with an RPG.

    That's what I thought.

Seriously unless that's explained it is beyond ridiculous on a show that's ridiculous to begin with.

Hmmmmm. I wonder if in the finale we’ll find out that Carrie is still being held in Russia without her meds and the past year is a delusion ;)
