    And we're back...

I missed this show. Almost two years since the S7 finale. Nobody does spy suspense like Homeland.

Interesting how they suspect she may have been turned while in Russia. We've now circled back around to the premise of S1. But now it's Carrie instead of Brody.

Gotta love (or hate) the politics and machinations of that area. No winners in this game.

It always takes an episode or two to set the table, learn the new players, see how Carrie and Saul relate. And then it takes off.

Fast hour. Glad we have one final season to enjoy this.

God, has it really been two years?

It certainly seems like they're setting up a premise that she gave up at least one asset while in prison (the dead contact, killed by the Taliban for working with an American) but that seems "too easy" of a conclusion to draw.

Yeah, introducing it this early makes it something we're supposed to think, not something that's likely to end up being the case.

Interesting that Carrie is at her twitchiest when nobody else is watching. I wonder if that's an indication of her (tenuous) self-control, or a plot device to stop people from taking one look at her and sending her back to the States... :D

Solid opening episode. You could really feel for Carrie when she learned her asset had been killed, and thinking she was the cause and perhaps maybe she did say something under duress, but still doesn’t remember that span of time.

    Good to see Max too!

[catching up on last episode after missing TV for a couple weeks, just in time for a new ep tonight]

Excellent second episode. Homeland has always been a master of keeping us on the edge of our seats (couches?). They really know how to build suspense, without making us feel like we just got red-herringed. Story is moving fast, and now we get to see Saul pull off some masterful negotiating while being held captive.

In the first episode, they made it seem like the current chief-of-station had it out for Carrie (professional jealousy). But in this episode, he seemed very willing to work with her, all above board. I'm suspicious .

You couldn't pay me enough to work in that part of the world.

The last two episodes have been great! Looks like Carrie will be implicated on the helis going down.

I wonder if the Taliban who captured Max will end up being the "heroes" by releasing the black box data..?

How do you know he was captured and didn’t escape from that one taliban?

Edit: but I agree that would be an amazing twist to exonerate the Taliban from shooting down the helicopter.

well that was way too easy for Carrie to evade her flight to Germany and get escorted off.

I still don’t see how she has free and clear access out the back door (loading dock?) at the CIA Building (Embassy?) without any guards or security going in or out whatsoever -compared to the heavily armed front entrance.

This latest episode seemed laugh out loud over-acted and dramatic. And Carrie and Oleg just drive around Afghanistan? And then they‘re somehow invisible from a few hundred yards away while Carrie uses a satphone to order up an extraction? Was this a different writer and show-runner?

    Spoiler tag removed.

Claire Danes has really ratcheted up the lower lip quiver this season.

Thanks for spoilerizing your post, I can't watch until it airs. No streaming where I'm spending my "stay at home" time :(.

Every time I watch her in a lip quiver scene, I realize she is the Master of the LQ.
