Good 2nd episode, I'm digging the premise and how the story is shaping up so far. A bit slow in areas, but they have me hooked on the story itself and wanting to see where it goes.

At this point I think he has been turned, but is struggling with it. The final 10 minutes with him and the prayer mat / going to do the interview sure fits that small bit of time before he is 'triggered' as Rube (ha!) thought..

Love the guy helping with the surveillance as well.

Maybe he was converted, but only to the Muslim religion.

It seems less clear that what we saw from the first episode in his flashbacks actually happened.

My wife predicts that Claire Danes' character (forgot her name) will try to sign up as one of the harem soon...

While I don't think the OP meant to imply it, even on a TV show, I think it's a leap of faith to assume to assume Muslim == terrorist.

It may have been that he simply turned to Islam to deal with years of incarceration.

Could be, but his tormentors were apparently Muslim, so it would not be especially rational to become Muslim to "escape" from their torments. Not that he would necessarily be rational after years of torture.

i didn't imply it at all. i said that the combination of the conversion PLUS the interview with the media JUST as Rube said he would, sure points to it...

if that were the only thing that happened, sure, but it wasn't.

I don't think it's as simple as him having been turned after being tortured and brainwashed. It's too straightforward a story for the writers to be hinting at this strongly in only the second episode.

Judging from that scene with him in front of the capital. I think he is going to run for congress.

Where do I sign up to become a Middle Eastern Prince Harem Job Interviewer? :D

Both seem like perfect jobs even without pay!

Unfortunately, I don’t think that CIA “asset” is long for this world. With Carrie as a handler, and no CIA backup she will soon be horribly killed.

Also, I know she’s obsessed, but is this case the only thing that Carrie does? She has no food in the fridge, she brushes her teeth on the sofa, and she never showers. Personally, I think she’s batshit crazy!

That poor asset thinks she has a team of operatives watching out for her 24/7.
I agree, she is going to meet an unpleasant end.

Carrie is surely crazy and that is what is going to make this story interesting. Like they say, just because you are paranoid doesn't mean people aren't really out to get you.

    But maybe she's NOT crazy.

Maybe she just takes anti-psychotic drugs on the side because she's delusional enough to THINK she's crazy.

I'm not so sure. There are a number of other ways it could go.

She could get shot, she could get blown up, she could get beaten to death...

I apologize if it's a spoiler but on the Late Late Show Claire Danes said that her character had bipolar disorder.

But didn't the tech guy say he looked up the pills she is taking and they are anti-psychotics? Bi-polar people are not psychotic. Bi-polar is just a mood disorder, right? Carrie herself and her sister diagnosed Carrie as having whatever it is their father has. I can't remember now what symptoms or disease consequences of the father's if any were mentioned.
