HELP--won't disconnect

    After thinking something was wrong with our phone lines, we realized the TIVO download is not disconnecting after its done--it is sometimes 5 or 6 hours later when someone calls on my cellphone to ask why I am not answering my home line and answering machine won't pick up--I then pick up home line and hear "fax sounding noise" (we do not have fax or DSL--only broadband) --have to hit hang up button several times before it will disconnect.

    Sounds like a modem problem. You could do a new guided setup and see if it helps any. Manufacturer and model number? How old is the unit?

    A reboot might help .... disconnect power, wait 30-sec, reconnect power.

    I've never heard of doing a new guided setup helping this problem.

    If unplugging the power cord, waiting a few seconds, and plugging the cord back in doesn't fix the problem once the unit has re-started doing a new guided setup won't do anything for ya.
