    Hey I'm in the middle of setting up my tivo. I have the router connected and the adaptor and everything seems to be fine. I have all the Ip numbers in and everything and I keep getting a Gateway unreachable which I have no clue what that means. If anyone can give me a little guided setup of how on earth I fit this that would be great. And I'm pretty dumb about this stuff so if you can make it easy...haha...thank you

    The router is the Gateway. So, if your network IP addresses are 192.168.1.X, then your Gateway IP address is most likely 192.168.1.1.

    From your computer, open a command prompt and ping the gateway address and the TiVo address. In the following example, my TiVo box has the IP address 192.168.1.105:
    Code:
    C:\dev>ping 192.168.1.105

    Pinging 192.168.1.105 with 32 bytes of data:

    Reply from 192.168.1.105: bytes=32 time=2ms TTL=64
    Reply from 192.168.1.105: bytes=32 time=2ms TTL=64
    Reply from 192.168.1.105: bytes=32 time=2ms TTL=64
    Reply from 192.168.1.105: bytes=32 time=2ms TTL=64

    Ping statistics for 192.168.1.105:
        Packets: Sent = 4, Received = 4, Lost = 0 (0% loss),
    Approximate round trip times in milli-seconds:
        Minimum = 2ms, Maximum = 2ms, Average = 2ms
    I would repeat that 'ping' command with the gateway IP address (192.168.1.1). If you are unsure about what your ip addresses are, try typing 'arp -a' (Windows 2000/XP Only) at the command prompt and see what ip addresses are returned.
