Ok, I recently swapped my TiVo HD 1TB hard drive into my TiVo Premiere. Was a fairly straightforward process, but I lost the TiVo HD drive in the process. How can I go about restoring a TiVo truncated backup file (TBK) to my TiVo HD without having a source drive?

If I am following your question correctly, you have the TBK file stored on your computers hard drive, or somewhere(cd, flash, etc)? I this is so, then you would use the free Winmfs program to restore the image from the TBK file to another hard drive. Procedures and particulars are outlined in the Series 3 platform "Upgrade" thread sticky, I believe, or the winmfs website, mfslive.org (I believe).

    Good luck.

I've been using WinMFS, but for some reason I am still getting "Your TiVo has experienced a hardware problem" randomly while using it.
