I have never had a problem with KUID either. All my one passes are KUID and I record a ton of stuff with the HDD usually above 60%.

No PyTivo here, and they still deleted. I can see if the drive was 100% full.

....the plot thickens...........I just checked and found that since everything was deleted.....as soon as something in my OnePass records that does NOT KUID - all of the missing programs re-appear????? before when everything was gone - there was nothing to recover in the recently deleted........now they're coming back/
Example....we record "the Closer" at 6pm on ME TV - no KUID but have it set for 10 programs. They were all gone yesterday - and, tonight when it started to record another episode at 6pm EST.......all of the early shows that were deleted.....are back?? ......this has Microsoft windows 10 beat by storm!

Are you sure those aren't Hulu episodes, or the like?

If you're asking me - no - I use my ROKU for subscription channels.
The facts are: when i try to copy a movie from my windows 10 64bit computer using pytivo, everything that isn't KUID disappears......nowhere to be found.....not even in recently deleted.
tonight we discovered that if you have a one pass set for any of the programs deleted, they all re-appear - not sure from where?
I'm sticking to my suspension that it's the TIVO OS......Unless the author of pytivo has some code that 'monkeys' with the linux directory.....my money's on TIVO.

Uh huh...what are the full settings for the shows that reappeared? And your show list options?

Can you post a screenshot of what you're seeing?

I have no PyTivo and mine is deleting things just like yours (although mine have not re-appeared). It seems when the Bolt gets over 50% (I'd have to test further) it deletes things. What annoys me most is that it does not delete "suggestions" first, (at least it didnt' for me, I had 8 suggestions that remained whilst it deleted my Manifest episodes 1-2 the other night).

Only when I got the "free" space down to around 34% (had to delete an entire folder as it was easier) did it stop showing "going away soon" with things in the next 24 hours.

It might've "always" been this way, I don't know. My old Tivo's never got that full, but since I have 500 GB Bolts and record things in HD it doesn't take long to get 50% full.

So, like you, I think it's the Tivo OS.

With your problems, you might want to observe the Recently Deleted Recordings folder. System Information's free/used space doesn't know about that folder. When you delete a program it gets moved to that folder. When the disk becomes physically full, programs get killed off in that folder, starting at the bottom (not always the oldest).

Everyone has their viewing habits. On a 1TB Roamio I record prime time and late night. I watch late night daily (I'm retired), and watch prime time on weekends. On Sunday night I kill all the prime time programs. I then check the oldest remaining program. If it changed, I kill the whole month. I have a 3TB Roamio that records some prime time series I save for summer time or other dry spells. I also record Jimmy Kimmel Live. Same procedure with killing prime time, and saving Jimmy Kimmel Live. So far, I have every episode of JKL going back to October 2017. It's ABC, so smaller than other networks. BTW, "kill" means permanently delete.

My goal on the 1TB Roamio is to have no programs in My Shows by Sunday night. TiVo has never killed or deleted a program without a good reason.

The "recently deleted" folder is totally empty on both units.

That should be true only when your drive is physically full (or new). You could have a problem.

Agreed, that's why I was puzzled when the Tivo started deleting things (and they were not in the recovery folder) when the disk space (reported) was around 76% (I believe) on the one Tivo and 87% on the other. It continued to delete even at free space of 56%

But apparently seemed to stop once it was around 34% (although it went from 56 to 34 or thereabout, I wasn't trying to get it to like 49% exactly or anything).

I wonder if the OP's behavior shows likewise?
I find it hard to believe it's not a Tivo OS issue given two "different" hardware platforms (Bolt/Bolt Vox). And even then I find it hard to believe that a hardware problem could cause this.

If it was my TiVo, I would 1) verify deleted files do not go into the folder and 2) if they do not, C&DE or replace the HDD.

My money is that, now that it's below 50% free space, that things I've deleted will show up (not sure about auto-deleted, but then again it shouldn't auto delete, IMO, at below 40% used space).

I know PRIOR to the drive "getting fuller" things showed up in the recently deleted folder. So that's why I'm betting it's a bug/feature in the Tivo OS.

As previously mentioned I've got 2 TB drives coming (they have arrived so I just need some free time this weekend to take them out and copy things to the new drives) and will be using those, as I don't want to run into this again.

Although I'm fairly certain I can dupe this at will by recording a bunch of stuff, observing the drive is above 50% full and then seeing that it'll start deleting things that don't show up in "recently deleted".

Hopefully the OP will be able to observe similar things. Although even if that is observed, I doubt Tivo will fix it any time soon.

It should always "auto delete" when My Shows hits 100%. It should never "kill" until your drive is physically full. You have no tool to know when a drive is "getting" physically full, but it's trivial to know when it is physically full.

I have seen posts where members feel the TiVo has foresight and can look at your TDL and proactively delete files. I never believed that. But I have a Roamio, not a Bolt.

Recently Deleted will always be empty on a machine that's set to record Suggestions.

KPeters.....I will try to get you screen shots of your request - traveling this weekend so it will take a day or two.

.....just to say that I do not record Suggestions.......but, my primierXL continues to show stuff that I recorded and that was deleted (also gone from recently deleted).......and, just to add more icing to the cake......there are 3 programs that I remember we recorded (and, deleted) 3 or more years ago - they've just re-appeared??

Thanks, I didn't know that. I never use Suggestions. I wonder why?

Both my XL4 and the Bolt's (now that I've freed up space) show recently deleted on things I've watched/deleted.

Perhaps "auto-deleted" don't show up there, but stuff I've watched and deleted in the past 24 hours show up there. I've been able to recover a show or two that I've accidentally whacked (or someone else in the house has whacked).

In fact, looking at my Bolt right now
    Suggestions are "on"
Recently Deleted has about 10 recordings in it (again, once I freed up space to below 50%)

Make note of the bottom message. See if/when it gets killed.

BTW, I don't say "oldest" since if you recover that bottom message, it will be placed on the top when it's deleted again. I so wish they would add the year to recordings.
