Help me please with my Tivo

    Someone help me please!! I bought a Tivo PTV300 from someone who assured me it was working. I have tried hooking it up but get a message that says "your recorder is starting up, please wait a moment." I wait for hours and nothing happens. Am I doing something wrong or was I ripped off? I am going straight from the tv to the tivo, so there are no boxes or other things to contend with. Anyone out there help me?

    It's probably not defective, just needs the drive to be reimaged. Do you have any recourse with the seller? The tools needed to reimage the drive are all available for downloading in the stickies at the top of the upgrade forum. You will have to do some reading there to see if the job is something you care to tackle.

    It may be simply that the hard drive connector(s) have become disconnected during transit. Look in the box and make sure that the power and data cables coming from the hard drive are firmly seated at both ends. It may be as simple as that.
