Yeah, I should.
I miss the old TV Guide Fall shows issues.
...and since then I've learned that Christina Ricci will be in "Pan Am". Why is she not mentioned in the ads?
Also, Kat Dennings in "2 Broke Girls".
LOL, why bother? Who can miss that wonderful forehead?
Almost posted a thread on this topic this morning.
I loved this time of year and looked so forward to the TV Guide Fall Preview.
Now tv is all short seasons and reality tv.
I Read 10 network shows with biggest buzz in yesterday's Suntimes. Reminiscent of the "ones to watch" in TV Guide. Worth a click.
/off to Tivo.com to set season recordings
( I have "pilot" in my Wish list, but then if I don't watch them right away, I miss the second and third episodes of shows and lose interest because pilots are generally not that great.)
Am I the only person who does not like FutonCritic.com?
I find the site cumbersome and non-informative.
Not the only one. I have only gone there once.
I find it extremely informative, but I could agree with cumbersome.
It's not a well-designed site, and navigating it can be an SOB at times. Cumbersome is an accurate description.
Having said that, it has one essential function for me--the ability to create an upcoming shows list. I tell FC which shows I watch, and then weekly print out a "My Listings". I use that to double check my TiVo To-Do List to make sure everything will record.
Yes, I am a tad anal about my TV watching.
I used to use MeeVee for the same reason.
I agree that FutonCritic is convoluted and difficult to navigate.
There are tons of sites that will provide that same information that are much better organized.
FutonCritic has its purposes. For example, I have yet to find a better list of past broadcast dates for a particular show (well, except maybe for the Simpsons one I maintain at PLUG REDACTED).
(BTW, "Plug Redacted" was my doing - don't blame the moderators or any "board bots")
You can do this once you are registered thru the "MyFuton" registration?
I never really looked at that before.
Love/Hate leaning toward hate. All my programs are already in it and I do like the email updates. However, most of the updates are just what the show is going to be about, not actual news about the show. As my list grows longer I hate having to check the box telling it I want mail for that show and then it jumps to the top of the list so if there are more shows I have to remember what it was and scroll all the way back down the list. They also starting putting in unblockable autoplay ads with LOUD noise which I hate so they have to go.
Looking for the best alternatives for my weekend project of migrating all the shows over. I know TV Guide has a new interface but haven't seen it yet as does IMDB where my movies already are but don't know if they keep you up to date with show news (not just what the show is about)
I always use the episode guides at TV.com for that.
Yes. And that's really all I use it for, so the general fugliness of the site doesn't bother me.
Once you're registered, go to My Futon. Then when you are on a show's site, click the Add to MyFuton button
Then once you have some shows added, go to My Listings. Voila!
My guess for the OP is "Free Agents," which features Anthony Stewart Head (of "Buffy" and "Merlin" fame). Just a guess, though.
Yeah, I kinda had already figured that out:
We set a SP and I just watched the pilot tonight.
Tony Head is the ****** boss. I suppose I should have seen that coming.
It has promise.
Now we're trying to figure out why Kathryn Hahn looks so familiar, because AFAIK I haven't seen any of the stuff that imdb lists for her.
Jan - so sorry for the hijack.
LS - nice call putting the thread back on topic, thanks!
Not to worry -- it seemed a natural progression to go from talking about my search for a specific show to a general discussion of "good ways to find out about new shows".
Carry on, everyone!
