Looking for some help with a new Roamio I added to my setup.

I have an existing Roamio Pro and Mini. Those work fine. They're connected via Moca. Never an issue with them.

I recently obtained a 4-tuner Roamio from a friend. I successfully added it to my account and re-ran Guided Setup. By itself, it works fine. It's connected to the network via Ethernet.

Although it took about a day after Activation, the 4-tuner Roamio can now see the shows on the Pro. But it won't play them. I get the error shown below.

The Pro and the Mini will not see the 4-tuner Roamio, however. That error's below, too. Note: I think it shows that error all the time, even before I got the 4-tuner Roamio. And they are connected to the network just fine.

I've done a bunch of connections and reboots. Video Sharing is enabled in my account. All are running the same software versions.

I tried to chat with TiVo support today and it wasn't helpful at all. Their suggestion was to enable network remote control.

Adding a Tivo device to your network also requires that in your Tivo.com account, under preferences that transfers are enabled, then it will receive the same Media Access Key as on your account and other devices. To access the shows on the other devices, the older (and newer) devices must make a Tivo Service connection. This so each will acknowledge the other and permissions were set.

You could wait up to 24 hours for that to happen on the next Tivo service connection or you can do it manually and quicker.

Since you have a mixed network (Ethernet and MoCa), can you describe your network configuration?

Both Roamios have “video sharing” enabled on TiVo.com and both have made multiple service connections.

I’ll have to confirm the MAK but they should have synced up by now.

I have Fios so I have a Moca network already. Roamio Pro and Mini are connected via Moca, direct coax. They’ve been like that for years, no issues.

The new Roamio I connected via Ethernet, which is going directly into a network switch which also connects other devices (laptop, AppleTV, etc), no issues there either.

All the TiVo devices are able to make connections to the TiVo service and the new Roamio can at least display the list of shows from the Roamio Pro, but won’t play them.

Are the MoCa network and the Ethernet network are on the same subnet?

Have you ran the network diagnostics on both TiVos?

What’s the network switch model #?

As a test, what happens if you connect the 4-tuner via the Pro’s Ethernet port? (temp moving the 4-tuner)

    Yes, both on same subnet.

I ran what diagnostics I could fine on both Roamio's. Both report "Success" in the various tests and when I view all the various IP addresses, I don't see anything odd.

I actually tried connecting to the Pro's Ethernet port first. When that didn't work I moved the OTA Roamio into another room and used the Ethernet that connects my AppleTV. Results were the same.

The OTA Roamio is now back connected to the Pro's Ethernet port.

The network switch is a 8-port Netgear but I'm not sure of the model. It's connected to a Win10 server, a Plex NAS server, and some other devices such as the AppleTV and my work from home laptop. It should be plenty powerful enough to handle TiVo streaming.

More “power” is where things can go awry; and other devices working via the switch isn’t a factor, as TiVo networking is special. It may not be your roadblock, but managed Netgear switches have been seen to cause TiVo networking issues when IGMP Snooping is enabled.

That the Roamio OTA still doesn’t work when linked via the Pro’s Ethernet port indicates the issue is something other than IGMP snooping. Does another device network OK when connected via the Pro’s Ethernet port?

The only other thing I've tried in the Pro's Ethernet port was a HD HomeRun that I played with for a week or two. It worked fine. I had no other Ethernet nearby and was shocked that the Pro's port let me just plug something into it like that.

I don't plan to keep this new OTA Roamio hooked up long-term, I only want to get it working and then put it away. That's why I'm using the Pro's Ethernet, it's convenient and temporary. But, like I said, I also used Ethernet going straight to the Netgear switch and I had the same issue.

I may just have to call TiVo support :(

Well, this morning everything works. Nothing changed on my end.

OTA Roamio can see/play Pro recordings and Pro/Mini can see/play OTA recordings.

Guess something on TiVo's end took up to 72 hours to work itself out, maybe?
