Thought I would go ahead and start a thread for tonight's episode so there doesn't end up being a whole season thread.

Reviews have been consistently bad (or meh). I'm so swamped with other shows, I'm gonna let this build up a few eps on the TiVo. If the buzz turns good, I'm in.

I watched and enjoyed it, not sure why so many of the reviews were so bad since there's definitely a lot worse out there.

It was... okay. Some interesting, some patently ridiculous. Certainly no Deadwood, but that was a given. I'll go ahead and keep pulling it off On-Demand for the time being.

Same here, but I don't believe reviews as usually the author has an agenda... PQ great and I liked the effects and acting. (too many back seat directors / producers on the net ;))

I haven't watched it yet but it has the virtue of being the only western on TV.

I thought it was good enough to keep watching. We'll see if it gets better or worse.

I've seen some good reviews and some bad ones. I forgot to set my SP but I'm sure I will be in the camp of "a mediocre western is still better than no western." That often is how we viewers react to mediocre Science Fiction as well. Too bad we aren't likely to ever get the "Deadwood of Science Fiction"...

I'm not sure where the bad reviews for the first ep came from. Action plus building some character background. Typical of AMC shows.

A lot less plot holes than Walking Dead. And yeah it has the whole western thing going for it.

I think a lot of people (me included) will end up backlogging episodes on their DVRs. There is a lot of other good stuff to watch on Sundays (Boardwalk Empire, Homeland, Dexter, Walking Dead). So a whole season thread would exclude people who are behind an episode or more from the discussion.

I didn't think it was too bad. I will certainly keep watching. It helps that I had low expectations.

When Elam slit the foreman's throat before he could tell Bohannon the name of the man who strangled his wife I did yell "Oh NO!" in my head. That was the best moment of the whole episode for me.

Something Alan Sepinwall pointed out for Thomas Harris fans:
" boo to the Gayton brothers for failing to put Noonan (who was The Tooth Fairy in "Manhunter") and Levine (who was Buffalo Bill in "Silence of the Lambs") in a scene together."

I liked it. Sure it's not Deadwood but 99% of shows come up short if using that comparison.

If Deadwood was a 10, and it was, then I would give this a 6 or 7. Good enough to keep watching and SP worthy.

The opening music and credits are a straight ripoff from Deadwood.

And Colm Meaney was trying very hard to be a Deadwood character, especially in his big I'm A Villain monologue. That sort of thing always works better when David Milch is writing it. :D

Kinda weird...it's like he's in a different show than the rest of the characters. But it's in character for him to act like he's in a different show. Because that's just the kind of guy he's playing.

Pretty decent. I like that many of the character and story details were pulled straight from the history books. It makes it more interesting/educational. I'll watch again.

I enjoyed it. I thought not having people on watch for Indians was a tad stupid. No one yelled anything when they started to attack.
