    Hi,

I was wondering if somebody could help with something.

I have a Direct TV with TV regular reciever.

When it was installed, the Directv installer could not pull up the signal test on the HD satellite. They told me I couldn't get the HD signal. Was this because I only have the digital receiver, or should it still be able to "see" the HD satellite in test mode?

I was under the impression you would need an HD receiver to test the HD signal.

    Thanks for your help.

    paul

There isn't a specific test for the HD satellite. But, ch 490-494 are used to verify reception.
Specifically, 492 and 493 for the 119 sat and 494 for the 110 sat.

    Thanks for the reply.

So, you would need an HD capable receiver in order to view those channels, correct?

No, just any receiver capable of tuning channels on the other sats.

Sorry to beat a dead horse, but is the regular receiver able to tune channels on the HD satellites?

There is no HD satellite as such. ANY and ALL D* receivers can tune channels 492-494, which are signals from the two satellites that carry both HD and SD programming.
