I've had my Series3 for a year now, and when I got it, there were no HD locals available over the cable without a cablecard, so I've been getting them OTA.

But I've just discovered that now, Comcast has HD locals in the clear on the cable. I did a channel scan with the series 3 and now it seems them on the cable.

But there is no program guide information for them ... is there any solution?

I have Comcast, SF Bay Area (Cupertino, CA). Series3. Have basic (analog) cable and an OTA antenna, but I wouldn't mind dumping the antenna altogether if I can get this to work, since a few channels don't have very good signal strength.

    Thanks!

Not currently. Unfortunately. I would LOVE to be able to use them here in the Boston Area. I get 4(87-2), 5(5-1), 7(7-1), 25(87-1), 38(38-1) and 56(56-1) with no cableCARDs. I get no guide data and I can not record anything longer than the 30 minute time slot of unknown guide info. For data, it says "???". This is a request that has been made many times by many people, but from what I've read, it appears to be unlikely that we will ever have the ability to edit or add channel information.

Currently, I use OTA, no cableCARDs on this unit and for the most part, it's fine. But there are times when the signal degrades a little, I guess due to weather conditions or some other interference. So, it would be great to be able to record the corresponding channels off of cable. I wonder if Comcast's own DVR can record them?

    Mission...
FYI you can setup manual recordings of arbitrary length and even have them repeat daily, weekly etc using:
Tivo Central->Find Programs->Record by Time or Channel->Set Up Manual Recording

Oh, OK, great. Thanks! I had previously just tried pressing the record button and it would not let me change the recording options so I ASS-U-ME'd it was not possible.
