This show may not be for you. The show is meant to be in the same spirit as the comic and both are intended to show a cynic's view of politics and ideologies on all sides of the spectrum. The comic leaned heavily into politics and the show is going to continue to do so unless Lindelof loses control of it somehow. The comic was about the political zeitgeist of its time and the show is about the political zeitgeist of our time.

I didn't understand the movie and was scared by the graphic novel. Really looking forward to the show!

I've never read a graphic novel, but started reading one a few weeks ago, a little over half way done then I'm going to dig into Watchmen
Hopefully reading the comic while watching the show isn't confusing

I would recommend finishing the comic, otherwise some significant things will be spoiled by the show.

I enjoyed the movie well enough that I bought the graphic novel for my iPad. First and last time I've done that, but it was worth the price. Good stuff.

I've noticed a few people have mentioned they've been listening to podcasts related to the show. Can anyone suggest a good one? Or two?

I forgot that the show is set AFTER the graphic novel takes place, so I might just watch the show, then read the graphic novel and then watch the show

especially since they said it's most likely just 9 eps and done (which is very sad) but an outside shot of keeping it going

Listening to Bleedtv one, it's so-so, probably won't continue with these guys

-Yeah not the best podcast, and went into previews of next ep talk without any heads up, wasn't happy there

I listened to two this week. The better one is the "Series Regular" podcast with Josh Wigler and it includes an interview with Damon Lindelof. The other one is the "Still Watching" podcast with Joanna Robinson and Richard Lawson, but they said they only planned to do this one episode on Watchmen and not a weekly recap like they have done for other shows. But this one included a good interview with Tim Blake Nelson.

Did you see the movie? Are you familiar with the Watchmen universe?

If not, I think reading the comic first before watching the series would be advisable.

Movie yes. And know that the show is 100% only using the graphic novel as cannon with fully ignoring the movie

    Haven't real the graphic novel
    I knew the general story
Just read the Wikipedia and listening to some podcasts so I'm all caught up for the general tones

I saw someone posting that ratings for episode 1 were pretty dismal. So I guess no season 2? (Though from what I understand, Lindelof meant for this to be a single season anyway.)

    Thanks for the link.

I went back to re-read the comment and apparently they were referring to the 18-49 demo number, which was only so-so.

    http://www.cancelledscifi.com/2019/...hmen-enters-in-the-lower-half-of-the-ratings/

Also, I guess Lindelof wrote season 1 to be self-contained (no cliff-hanger!) but that doesn't mean HBO wouldn't want more seasons if there is demand.

These LTD series always reminds me of the old Seinfeld joke...that those LTD autos are limited to the number they can sell.
(HBO already has a second season for Little Big Lies that was supposed to be a one-and-done, so if the ratings are good for Watchmen, I wouldn't be surprised to see a second season)

Big Little Lies shoulda been a one-and-done. S2 was pretty bad. Not even Streep could save it. And HBO has renewed shows that did not make it past the 1st season. Vinyl and Luck come to mind.
