Yeah, I'm in the "undecided" camp as well. It's a bit too much like a regular cop show but I'm willing to give it another few episodes.

Don't we also need separate threads for spoilers and non-spoilers from the comics?

    Episode thread, comic spoilers OK
Episode thread, comic spoilers not OK
    Series thread, comic spoilers OK
Series thread, comic spoilers not OK

That should do it...oh, crap! Forgot about the movie!

My thread specifically says that spoilers from all previous Watchmen IP is fair game, because it's going to be hard to discuss this new show if we have to avoid discussing the graphic novel, since it's treated as canon in this new show.

Yes, with how strongly the show references the comic, it would be untenable to consider the comic material to be spoilers.

Sorry, I was just joking (in part making fun of some very prolonged arguments that were had in the early years of Game of Thrones)...

I knew you were joking. I just wanted to point out that I tried to avoid similar arguments by specifically stating what was allowed in the thread I created. If we decide to continue with episode threads, hopefully whoever creates each one will remember to include similar language.

Was reading some comments from other sites about Watchmen and I thought this was an interesting take on one of the ways the movie misstepped from the source material.

Watchmen on HBO trades the Cold War for the culture war, keeps superheroes

This first show has so many left leaning social innuendos to make it just another Hollywood political statement. Not sure I can watch this overboard PC show. I like the macabre, dark, terror, suspense type movies and shows but this misses in so many ways. I did not read the book, see the movie, or read any reviews prior and this was very disappointing on a first exposure experience.

Really? The liberal dictator-for-life strikes you as left-leaning social inuendo?

And the anti-police state. Police guns locked. Illegal guns readily available. Permission to do anything.... Should I go on?

Considering how far left the source material is I'd say this is most definitely not the show for you and you'd be happier watching something else.

Although again I'd like to point out, this is being portrayed as the kind of nightmare society you get when a liberal runs the country for 30 years...

Agreed. It boggles my mind that anyone thinks this show is some kind of liberal fantasy.

Are you saying you think this show is portraying these as virtues? I think you need to re-watch. These are clearly being portrayed as bad things. Far from being a leftist utopia, large parts of this show are a warning about the "slippery slope" of unchecked left-leaning policies.

It is amazing how on-point this show is. Just days before this episode we have a police officer killing a woman sitting on her own couch by shooting her through a window, without even announcing himself first. It is not at all hard to draw a line from incidents like that directly to a future where police officers require permission to be able to draw their weapon at all.

In Boston we currently have a proposed ordinance disallowing the wearing of masks in public places... pushed by the government and police. And this show has even the police wearing masks.

    Spooky.

Careful with the political talk guys. It's strictly against forum policies even though it directly applies to the context of the show. When you start including your opinions this thread could get ugly in a hurry and probably get shut down. It's a slippery slope.
