I recently purchased my first TiVo from eBay and it's a Sony SVR-2000 with original 30G HD. I also purchased a brand new 160GB HD (expecting to only use 137G) to replace the old drive. I went through the procedure as defined by Hinsdale, connected the old drive as master on the primary IDE and the new drive as a slave on the same cable, booted with a CD made from MFSTOOLS20.zip, and issued this command; # mfsbackup -aqo - /dev/hdb | mfsrestore -xpi - /dev/hda response was; mfs_load_volume_header: mfsvol_read_data: Input/output error mfsbackup; Backup failed to startup. Make sure you specified the right devices, and that the drives are not locked. Restore failed: -: Success I connected only the new HD and ran the Maxtor HD tests and it passed. I did not do anything to format it as instructed. I did run gunlock to unlock the original drive and I believe it worked since when my pc first booted with the CD it saw the full size of the old drive. Advice please!
