I have a paper copy from way back in the day and went to look up the Kindle version, so I could reread, and of course it is now $9.99 for a book that is 26 years old and only 178 pages in length. I am sure they jacked the prices of all the Hap and Leonard books to capitalize on the show.

That too me was too pricey. I will drag out my old paperback copy.

Magical means. In this case, Usenet. alt.binaries.ebook alt.binaries.ebooks alt.binaries.e-book.flood They're all there. Ebooks are tiny files. Hap and Leonard books are all around 2mb.

Most libraries now have ebook collections that you can download from home, so that's another free source.

Eh, I will read the paper copies of the ones I already have (about half of them).

I started re-reading Savage Season yesterday and have not gotten that far but I found that the TV show through the first episode of the show was extremely faithful to the book, right down to some of the dialogue being lifted directly from the book.

The third episode was already up on Comcast on demand last night so it seems like they are getting it even before it airs.

Watched the 4th episode last night. Comcast continues to put them on their On Demand Service before they actually air.

I just finished the book last Friday and they are sticking pretty close to it. Things get cranked up a notch in Episode 4.

It looks like there is only 6 episodes in the season so I am looking forward to the last 2 episodes and I hope it does well enough that we get some future seasons based on the other books. I think there are about 10 books in the series.

That just so bizarre that they put the episodes up before they actually air.

Sundance on Comcast here is not in HD, but Hap And Leonard is available in HD On Demand. I still record it just to remind me to go watch the show via On Demand.

After watching episode 4, I'd say 2 notches. It's definitely puts some twists into it. I am really looking forward to the last 2 episodes.

Wow, ep 5 was pretty intense. And I noticed the DirecTV guide synopsis calls this show a comedy.

Hope it gets a season 2. I just reread the second book and I like it better than they first.

The psycho and his leather girlfriend are two of the best villains I've seen in years.

Just watched the 5th episode. I really liked it. It is still sticking really close to the book, although I am afraid that they may change a major detail in the last episode.

Never heard of this before. Do you recommend reading the book or watching the show? Or if both, does it matter which one first?

Sundance is rebroadcasting all the past episodes on 4/6 for those like me who are just finding out about this. OP, thanks for the thread. This sounds like fun.

The show so far has remained pretty faithful to the book so I don't think it matters which you choose first.

For some reason I cannot create a OnePass for this show! 'Create OnePass' is not available for Hap and Lenard, but it is for all other shows!!?? What's up with that??

I can just record each episode, but not with OnePass!

Don't know, but I have a OnePass and it recorded eps 1-5, and 6 is scheduled for W 4/6, 8pm MDT, on Sundance HD.

I haven't watched any yet. Maybe I'll binge watch it on a rainy day. Of course, living in a desert... the 10 day forecast is for clear skies. Maybe I'll pull an all-nighter.

I did put a hold request for the first book at my local library. I'm number three in the queue. Looks like the TV show has spurred interest in the books. Same thing with the Expanse on SyFy.

I liked the finale but the show peaked last week with the showdown. We get a resolution to that and then not only a lot of wrap up of loose ends, but they went ahead and jump started the plot for book 2 at the end of the episode. So, here is hoping that we get one.
