If you didn't catch this 1hr documentry on ch 549, it's on agian the 24th 12.00am,
same ch. The only time so set that Tivo.

It's a great insight to the great burger joints in this country and you'll see that the
SNL "cheeburger, cheebrger, cheeburger" bit was based on a real place.

Cheeburger, Cheeburger is a chain in Fort Myers, FL. I am not sure where else they have them

That's not where the bit came from. I don't know what this show purports the origin, but according to everything I've read it's based on the Billy Goat Tavern here in Chicago.

Both the skit and the Cheeburger, Cheeburger chain are based off of the Billy Goat Tavern. The chain is pretty good, I had it when I was in Florida.

if you're a foodie at all, this is most highly recommended. Wonderful show.

midas and BrandonSi - you are both correct of course.

I didn't mention it because I thought it might be considered a spoiler. That's why just the reference.

IIRC, SNL called it "The Vesuvius" on the show. :)

Actually, it was called the "Olympia Restaurant" but still Greek.

"No Pepsi; Coke. No fries; cheeps"

Hmm...maybe the Vesuvius was "You like-a the sauce? The sauce is good, no? I get you a little more sauce." sketch from the mid-'90s.

That makes sense, as Vesuvius is in Italy and, of course, Olympia in Greece.

In the SNL skit they said, "No Coke, Pepsi." But the sign at the Billy Goat says, "No Pepsi, Coke."

I guess Pepsi was an SNL sponsor or the Billy Goat took some money from Coke to change things.

Actually, in one later sketch, a Coke saleman came in and gave them a better price and it became "No Pepsi, Coke", so maybe that was a parallel to the Goat changing over.
