After letting D* know my feelings about the many issues i have had concerning OTA and pixelation problems, they informed me that the H20 (Model?) is available. However, this does not appear to be a tivo type device. Can anyone offer some insight on how this new receiver will provide the same functionality as the h10-250 and yet deliver the locals in HD?
    thanks

Its going to use the same interface as DirecTV's own non tivo R-15 receiver.

Unless they add features to the H20 that the R-15 doesnt have you will not have wishlists, dual buffers and there will be limits on the number of SP's you can create.

The H20 is a live TV receiver only. No recording whatsoever.

    As soccer said:

The H20 is the standalone non-dvr receiver
The HR20 is the proposed DVR receiver howerver it not available yet.... Most recent information has it pegged for August/September.

You can see more details on the R15 (the "sibiling" to the HR20) over at www.dbstalk.com

No matter what they tell you, it's the H20, which has no recording capabilities.

The CSR's are confused, and have about a 40% hit rate on getting correct information. It's useless to go to them to get clarification, since it will more likely than not be wrong.

The HR20 is still vapor. They keep slipping the date. The basline software from the R15 is still a mess. It will be shocking if they release it before the holidays.

Is the best deal for the H20 around $99?

The best deal on the H20 is to not buy one.
