Or that they just pulled a new character out of their a--es to make things interesting. ;) Kind of like Cousin Oliver.

They need some new characters. Everyone has already had sex with everyone!! And Meredith has been resurrected. What storyline is left?

Not true. Burke and Christina have only had sex with each other (as far as we know). And Bailey has only had sex with her (rarely-seen) husband (again, as far as we know).

It looks like Richard and Adele have even been faithful to each other. Er, well, um, at least since Richard and Ellis broke it off 20 years ago.

LOL. Ok. I stand corrected. Even still, is that enough room to let the storylines stay interesting. I suppose Burke could suddenly develop an interest in Izzy. Maybe Yang will start carrying a torch for McSteamy!

Hmmm. Both scenarios sound pretty annoying, which comes back to my main point. They need some new characters to generate new interests and new love angles.

Is it possible that they just share a last name and aren't related in any way? In the real world, a shared last name doesn't mean much unless it's a really unusual last name. Maybe it will be the ongoing joke next season: "Hi I'm Lexi Grey, no relation to Meredith."

On this show? I doubt it, that'd be too easy an explanation. I'm sure they're looking to use this for causing problems next year.

Have to admit, don't know how I feel about this series going forward. I definitely think it's lost a lot of steam, and man did they set it up so they could theoretically fire half the cast in this finale. And while the show's been going downhill for a while, I tend to think that losing a lot of these characters would only make things worse. Part of me tends to lean towards if George goes, I go (then again, part of me also tends to be about ready to slap him around the head a few times too).

    +1

This show has turned into a big bag of suck. If I didn't have my wife still liking it, and if I didn't enjoy the eye candy despite the blah blah blah, I'd delete the SP. As it is I'll just keep hoping it lasts long enough to turn it into a movie and pray that Katherine Heigl gets naked. :)

I just read the Shonda Rhimes blog entry that someone was kind enough to link - ugh.

What an ego, what determination to make over-important a stinkin' TV show. "Aah, my Chief." "Oh, the Christina of it all." Good lord, woman, get over yourself.

They confirmed in the most recent podcast that Lexie is, in fact, Meredith's half-sister. Gag me.

Call her what you want... but Hello LEXI!!!!

if only they can get Meridith and Yang crushed to death in some kind of angst-ridden accident... then we'd be left with Lexi and Izzy...

I've said that many times, and since you've seconded me, I'll third you! If you think that's bad, you should listen to the podcasts. Rhimes and producer Betsy Beers are so astonishingly self-congratulatory it's no wonder that the show has declined markedly. Not only do they seem incapable of recogizing a bad idea when they have one, they also seem incapable of recognizing it's even possible for them to have a bad idea.

Yeah, that was really *not* a good finale. Too much drama (which, for Grey's is saying something) and not enough of the fun that makes this show fun.

I don't think there has been any fun on the show since like halfway through season 2. Since then it has been 1 depressing situation after another. I do agree the fun is missing from the show and has been replaced by doom and gloom.

So who was the Chief Resident that is no longer there, that the Chief had to appoint a replacement for? I always assumed Bailey already had that position.....

Residency programs are usually 4 years long.

The Chief Resident is usually someone in their fifth year of residency, supervising other residents. As such, it's only a one year position. We (the audience) never saw who the outgoing chief resident was. (I think)

What happened at the very end of the show?

A recent news story said that GA ran over the timeslot, and I can't remember now if my TiVo picked up the end credits or not. The last thing I remember is the scene where Meredith is cutting the dress off Cristina.
