They paid out the full contracts to everyone. If they were just trying to save money, they didn't have to do that.

Reasonable point, although salary isn't the only cost in making a show and they were probably contractually obligated to pay it anyway.

I went through my Netflix shows and 70% are female leads.

I'm happy for it, but isn't this an expected result?

I looked at that list. Most of those, I've never seen or heard of. I think they scatter shot shows just to see what sticks. I was sad that I am not okay with this didn't get renewed. It had an interesting premise. GLOW only had so long it could go. The reality is that the actual GLOW wrestling circuit only lasted a couple of years in Vegas. The show had a limited life.

I watched Sabrina. It was interestingly dark in comparison to the original. I think the fact that they have been breaking up the seasons in 2 parts each has damaged the viewership in some ways. They've spread them out far enough that the viewers aren't as attached to the characters as they could be.

Two of the shows canceled were 5 and 6 seasons long. That's pretty normal for network shows, so I wouldn't read anything into those cancellations. Many shows are cancelled after one season, and that's almost all of the shows on that list.

Yeah, there are a lot of female lead shows out there. If they aren't getting watched, they aren't getting enough visibility or the writing sucks. Teenage Bounty Hunters sounded like a completely stupid premise. Maybe the writing would appeal to an adult audience, but I didn't even watch a trailer for it.
