I wouldn't take that to be gospel. It's clear that the tape was a fake and not really from her mother. He did it to make Rachel happy.

Now, it might end up being sledgehammer foreshadowing but there's no way to know just yet. Or did I miss something?

    Miss something? Yep.

She explained, in logical detail, how she came to conceive, and why she was not approaching Rachel directly.

Now, the motivation behind her seeking out Rachel at this time is suspect: I think it may be to really mess with her head before the final competition. But perhaps some maternal feelings will dash these plans.

Who knows? Tune in next week, same Bat-time, same Bat-channel.

Oh. This was the first and only episode so I didn't know the rest. I just knew about the fake tape. Thanks.

Not the last show, just the first.

No, none of this is from an earlier ep. It is all from this week's show.

There was supposed to be an episode of original songs this season. I assume that it was shelved because they needed room for either the Madonna or Lady Gaga episodes.

I'm surprised there haven't been any original songs on the show already, considering that at least one original song would get an Emmy nomination (which would be a reason why an episode of original songs would probably have the songs written by different people).

Actually one of my favorite "small" moments of the show was Quinn reaching forward and touching Artie's shoulder as he sang Dream a Little Dream of Me. Such a small gesture done beautifully.

Where are you getting this "fake tape" stuff? Why do you think that it is "fake"? The mom said "did you give her the tape?"

I assume he means fake as in "not really a tape found in Rachel's box". When Rachel and what's-his-name were going through the boxes from her basement, what's-his-name distracted her then pulled the tape from his jacket pocket, pretending to find it in the box.

I think the tape is real, but it wasn’t in the box, as Rachael was led to believe. Jessie put it there when she wasn’t looking.

Okay it's "fake" as in "the dads really didn't save the tape for her in a box."

But it's a real tape, made by her actual bio-mother, who really did record a message on it for her to hear. Right? Because otherwise, I really am confused.

This is the part that is confusing. How is it "clear" that the tape is not really from her mother? Her mother said she made the tape, so unless she is lying about being the (bio) mother, the tape is real and really from her mother.

Oh I missed that particular line by IJLT Magnolia. Yes, you are correct, the tape is most definitely a real tape made by her actual biological mother. It's 'fake' only in the fact that it isn't what it was made to appear to be - namely a tape which was made by her mother at the time of her birth and saved by her fathers all this time.

I think she is the biological mother (especially SO made up to look exactly like Rachel), but we can't be sure yet.

The tape was made by the woman who has presented herself to Jessie as Rachel's biological mother. Whether or not she really is remains to be seen.

Just watched the episode again. One thing I forgot about was the dialog between Sue and Bryan. The both made excellent arguments why the arts and physical education is so important in our schools. In this age of budget cuts, too often these programs are the first to be cut. In many ways they can be just as important as the three Rs.

Yes, exactly. We have no way of knowing if the tape is from her real mother or just from the person claiming to be and who gave Jessie(?) the tape.

Probable is but no way to know yet could be a giant red herring.

I will agree and had the same thought, but I will be dissappointed if it turns out this was all just ruse on Shelby's part to rattle Rachael before Regionals.

I had forgotten this too, but agreed they both made excellent points.

How many takes do you think it took them to do the bit about hooking up? What was Sue's line about having a place upstairs or something?
