Wow, what a narrow minded view of the south you have.

I was just talking to a friend about people's preconcieved notions of the Southern States at last week's cross burning and BBQ.

Oh yeah, good point. So VA isn't in their Section. I'm just a little confused about the structure of these competitions. I want to know why there's already been so much talk of Nationals this year, when presumably they'd have to win both Sectionals and Regionals to even qualify.

The whole point is that many bullies and people who 'beat up' or hassle people who are gay are often gay themselves. That's why they're so threatened.

Probably haven't seen the last of this storyline. And, I think that's good.

And, the bully thing is REAL....not just a cliche.

I know Kurt can be whiny, etc. but, let's not 'blame the victim' here.

On what are you basing these statements?

I'm glad that they had a regular, non-themed episode. This one was much better, in my opinion, than the previous few.

I, too, liked Teenage Dream and have purchased it from iTunes. It's only my second Glee purchase (the other being the boys' mash-up from before, "It's My Life / Confessions Part II").

I really liked the episode. I was getting tired of each one revolving around a superstar.

Artie and Puck's singing bit was great - though they made almost 300 bucks and Puck still didn't want to pay for dinner later, though he said that was what they could use the money for.

It is nice that Kurt and the gay guy from the other school didn't immediately fall in to a romance. They can be friends.

For all I know, every Fox station aired the episode - which surprises me a little, considering the content.

I would have thought the South didn't care one bit about this sort of thing any more...until I saw Atlanta-based Adult Swim censor the phrase "Sweet Zombie Jesus!" from Futurama episodes and edit an American Dad episode that featured a close-up two gay men staring at a set of six-pack abs, only for the shot to pull out and reveal that they belonged to Jesus on the cross. (Fox aired both of those uncensored - which is usually the reverse of the way it normally happens with these shows.)

On my professional and personal experience. It's what I do for work.

    See it every day.

Also, research has shown that many people (not all) who take homophobia to the extreme are really trying to 'deny' it in themselves.

You do notice the common thread there right? It had nothing to do with "gay".

The Confessions mashup you bought, is it a full-length song or is it just the one-minute-and-change version from the episode?

I am a gay man who went to an all boy's jock catholic high school in queens ny and I will tell you from first hand experience that I was constantly bullied.

Cut to 15 years later when I ran into many of them in Manhattan gay bars to find out that the jocks who harrassed me the WORST were frakkin each other in the locker-room and then callin' me the F word.

    So - it happens.

...and everything to do with Bible-thumping Christianity, the kind of which likes to point to Leviticus when it comes to how gays should be treated (and then ignores the bits in Leviticus about things like not eating pork, but that's another story).

You really do have a scewered view of the south and southerners, you're stereotyping us in the worst way. You also seem to be basing it on the activities of a few you've read about.

By saying your "surprised" it wasn't pulled, and you singled out the south, you are showing an ugly prejudiced, you know kind of like what people think all southerners are.

    It's offensive and insulting.

So they compete against a group made up of deaf people last year and this year a bunch of old people all getting their GEDs? Come on.

They have to have a group that has a chance of sucking out the win by sympathy.

And no one has yet complained about the steel drums during the Puck/Artie duet? Ya'll always go on about the unrealistic bits and I figured that would be the first thing you would go after.
