Fringe 3x1 - "Olivia" - OAD 9/23/2010 (spoilers)

The jury may be still out on Bell but on the other hand, he did say that the constant Universe jumping had taken a significant physical toll on him.

I suspect that Walternate's attempts to pierce the barrier weren't as good as Walter's, thus causing all the damage on their side.

 

Oh Walter's responsible.
After all, he set off the whole chain of events by kidnapping Peter (even if it was to save his life).

But I suspect Walternate caused the environmental damage on his side and is using his position now to cover it up.

I just re-watched Over there Part 2, one thing is bugging me now.

Bell speaking to Peter before jumping universe's again.
Bell: "I haven't seen you in many years. You're holding up better than I would've thought."
Peter: "What's a little universe hoping between friends?"
Bell: "That's not what I meant."

Something going on with Peter?

 

One of the protest signs said "Remember the Ambered".

 

When Olivia went to the address where she expected to find Massive Dynamic he was walking across the street in the background.

 

I hope Olivia finds some way to apologize to and at least partially compensate Bubbles for his kindness and the $2 million in cab fares.

 

I thought it was interesting the look on Fauxlivia's face when Peter kissed her. And Peter seemed to be seeing what her reaction would be - wonder if he suspects??

 

if he suspects, he didn't show it...he just looked amused about something...like a guy who can't believe his luck (being with a hot girl)...

 

Fauxlivia has a different enough personality and skill set that Peter will eventually catch on. Fauxlivia seemed a lot less repressed, for one thing. She has a skill that Olivia lacks (good marksmanship), but probably lacks some important skill that would make her fakery obvious. Then again, perhaps she'll come around to our side once she figures out we aren't responsible for the invasion, whoever is making the shapeshifters is.

 

The whole point of their little section of the FBI is to investigate cases that have to do with "The Pattern." We now understand that The Pattern has to do with the ongoing war between the universes, but that was always speculated. I don't think every single MOTW had to do with The Pattern, but most of them did in one way or another.

Whenever Bubbs was sober, I always thought of him as both intelligent and reasonably articulate. That's why he was such a good CI.

I hope they resolve the crossed over players quickly. Nothing annoys me more than the contrived scenario of someone pretending to be someone they're not.

Has it been discussed whether the Observers have alternates, or if they exist outside of the universes?

 

Except in this case, there's nothing contrived about it...there is a very good and logical in-story reason for why it's happening.

 

Perhaps contrived wasn't the best choice of words in this case. Most of the time it comes across like a throwaway plot device. Regardless, I still find the situation annoying.

 

And I think this storyline has given Fringe the biggest boost in its short life. Anna Torv hasn't had much to do in the first two seasons, but now that she gets to play two different characters, it's really energized her performances. And the idea of the two being trapped in alternate universes is highly interesting. I don't know why you'd want to have them go back to what they were doing before, now that we know about the alternate universe.

 

agreed 100% We've known about the existence of the other universe for a while now and now we get to spend significant time there with one of our major characters.
