This is doing well, I agree with others that this is just an issue of them trying to figure out where to put it with Idol and 24 coming on in midseason. If I were them I would put it on Wed at 8, not a real tough timeslot. Right now they have That 70's show and Stacked scheduled there. I'm sure they'll have other timeslots open if they want to hang on to them, but I think Break would perform better there than those 2 shows.

Maybe it's just me, but I'd rather have one long break than many short ones. Think "Housewives" last year...near the end it felt like every other week was a repeat.

I actually think this is the wave of the future. "Alias" bucked the system last year by not starting until January which actually ended up being wonderful (they are also taking an extended break this year for Garner's maternity leave, same as "Prison Break"). I have a feeling we are going to move further and further away from the September-May season and into a more european style "Series" schedule. Fox has actually been a pioneer in that respect for quite some time - from way back in the early days of 90210 when they did "summer seasons".

I think it leads to higher quality shows, personally - and as HBO has shown, it can work to your advantage. It's quite an interesting time to be a TV viewer right now, between the risk-taking shows broadcast networks are doing to the chances in schedules they are starting to make. Now if only we can get rid of the silly, useless, antiquated Nielsen system TV may really be ready for a revolution.

I doubt it--Babylon 5 used to have 12-month seasons, where the season finale would be one week and the season premiere the next!

Pretty dumb decision. Why don't they just displace one of their myriad crappy shows for this good one?

Because that would make too much sense.

It does seem odd. This show has been their most successful new show this season and it's likely that the suspense will build throughout the remaining November episodes. Then suddenly they'll leave everyone hanging and expect them to return nearly six months later. You have to wonder if many of the viewers will be turned off by this and simply not come back when the show returns. They could lose any momentum they've built up with the fall portion of the season.

This is especially true if, as some have suggested, they resolve the actual prison break portion of the story at the end of Nov. If the inmates break out and then we are asked to return six months later to simply find out about the conspiracy, they're going to have to make the conspiracy a lot more intriguing in the next few weeks or risk losing everyone once the show returns in May.

And this could very well still happen. If one of their hour shows really tanks during sweeps, PB could be back in January.

Not that matters, but I sent a nasty gram to fox about the decision to 'bench' Prison Break until after 24's over.

At least it made me feel better...

Well, that was a little different.

In order to prevent ending the series in a cliffhanger, they'd always forego airing the last 4 or so episodes every season because they were always in danger or not being renewed.

Then when they were renewed, they aired those last few from last season and then immediately went into the new season.

This also helped them 'ramp up' to production of the new season since usually renewal came late for this struggling show.

Other than from a production (or geek ;) ) standpoint, B5's seasons ended and started like a typical syndicated show.

I don't think FOX has decided anything 100% yet for "Prison Break". That article was from last week and the scheduling guy quoted doesn't say himself that Prison Break will be a "casulty", USA Today does. I think they're making an ASSUMPTION based on his comments about the pros and cons of a move.

No doubt FOX wants to keep the momentum PB has going on right now. They just have the fortunate problem of having too many shows to fit in their schedule.

I can see the potential appeal of ending the show now since it's at a creative "cliffhanger" and bringing it back in the summer when it could run uninterrupted for 9 weeks. They may have a summer show they'd want to launch this with.

However, that's a risk for such an unproven show.

No doubt, they have a difficult decision but, as of now, I don't think anything's in stone yet.

Either way, it's gonna be gone for Dec... like most shows.

Fox planned the split season all along, in fact I remember seeing a post on here about it. The second half premieres in June.

Oh, they better not cancel Prison Break. It's getting really exciting now. Best Drama out there.

    Let me get this straight:

    They "cancel" Arrested Development
Put Prison Break on its place
Then put 24 on in its place

Makes total sense
