Surprise, surprise, my Tivo is on Hydra this morning! I did nothing to upgrade. Bolt Vox.

    I'm stunned, no warning, nothing.

Edit: Also forced opt in. In system information under OPT status, it states "Opt in"

I rolled my 'Summer Sale' purchase back to TE3, transferred a few shows to confirm operation, never added CableCARD and then pulled the power cord several weeks ago. I was contemplating swapping my CableCARD or getting a 2d to put it 'on line' this week.

I guess I wait and see what TiVo passes on to you regarding your issue.

Has this box ever been on Hydra before, as in did you upgrade and then roll back? Just wondering if there are any glitches when that happens.

It came with Hydra and I rolled back, up and back a few times. I have not been on Hydra since the pre roll nonsense started.

I'm just waiting to see if this happened to anyone else before trying to downgrade. Although I'm certain it won't let me, considering it upgraded without authorization.

Are there others in your house? Might someone have pressed the voice button on your VOX remote?

No, kids at college and no wife. I don't use the voice remote.

So this is a Bolt VOX you 'tinker' with? Do you have another that you use for primary service & your Mini(s), if you even use them. Mini requires 'matching' doesn't it?

A 'roll back' now won't you lose all recordings?

I don't tinker with it. I did nothing for it to upgrade. Tivo did this and I'm sure I'm not alone.

I'm thinking the multiple ups and downs are a contributing factor, even then it shouldn't have done it, but that's a data point most machines that have never been hydracized and back wouldn't have.

There have been a few posts at TCF about this having happened to others.

That's opting into data sharing, not (specifically) a forced upgrade.

I thought it was opt in for the pre roll ads. I have seen posts where people are saying I did not agree to opt in.

    From https://support.tivo.com/articles/F...-in-Opt-out-settings-PTCMs-Emails-and-Privacy

TiVo DVRs and the TiVo Mini: You may opt out of having your viewing logs used in the TiVo analytics business or sharing that de-identified information collected after such opt-out with third parties by contacting TiVo Customer Support (support.tivo.com/ContactTiVoSupport) and requesting to opt out under the TiVo Privacy Policy. Please note that the viewing logs are functional data, therefore while the anonymous data will not be used in the analytics business or shared with third parties it will still be collected and processed as necessary to continue providing you the TiVo service (for example, to suggest a particular TV show that you may enjoy).
That's what the opt-in flag is about.

Oh boy, I noticed in system info service connection it states "pending restart". I hope this is not forcing me to Hydra again!

I can't do it now because it's recording, but I hope not.
