Never did understand the puppets in space....
I snagged it at a BB near my office. Thanks a ton Loadstar! Fantastic deal.
Same here. Bought it online for less than $70, but arranged to pick it up at a nearby Best Buy. "The Peacekeeper Wars" was included inside the boxed set.
Anyone need the original releases (a smattering of Starburst and flippers).
damn, scratch that, it's apparently backordered online and not available at my only bb within 130 miles :/
I just got an e-mail that it is back ordered and expected to ship in 1-2 weeks.
i ordered it for in store pickup a few days ago and got an e-mail stating they were out of stock. Noticed that netflix streaming has the first 3 seasons. might just watch it there.
FYI, the DVD episodes are a few minutes longer than the episodes broadcast in the USA.
My PS3 shows each episode so far as being 50 minutes of video.
I've been watching a boxset of season 4. I forgot how "out there" this show could be.
Joss Whedon gets practically canonized for his use of and creation of words and phrases but I absolutely love the clever use of curse words, insults and pop cultural references in Farscape. I don't know who was responsible for them, but I tip my hat to him/her.
Price is back up to $ 129.99 online
So I assume if I bought it for $69 and it is back ordered I will still get it for $69 right?
Should be. Unless they cancel the order, which I doubt they would do.
I've recently been going through the series too and just finished one of my favorite episodes, Crackers Don't Matter.
So I received mine today but not apparently a Best Buy Exclusive version...I got everything except PeaceKeeper Wars.
I just finished the first season and am not the impressed. I like sci fi shows ( BSG, Firefly, Stargate (all of them), and even star trek(voyager, deeps space 9, enterprise, next generation) and Dr. Who. Hopefully season 2 will get better. Shows okay, perhaps it was hyped too much. Read here that season 3 is suppose to be real good. Will see. Just my .02
Season one was just OK, as you said. If you listen to the commentary tracks, there were a few major issues with the first season. It started out rough, with them attempting to film episodes 1 and 3 together, and 2 and 4 together. They also didn't really have a pilot episode, so they had to kind of get used to stuff like the costumes, the prosthetics, and how to correctly use the Creature Shop muppets, all as they filmed the episodes. They also had multiple producers for the various episodes during first season, each of which had their own ideas for how the actors should portray their characters, and the directors were often giving instructions that often directly contradicted those that they were given just one episode before.
The real meat of the show picked up near the very end of season one, with
Scorpius, the Aurora Chair, and the stuff with wormhole technology.
That's really what begins driving the plot through the remainder of the series. It really does get quite a bit better as they develop that plot line, along with other ones they haven't really fully developed out during season one.
What about the first episode called "Pilot" that introduced Crichton and how he got thru the wormhole and wound up with the rag tag group of renegades? You don't think that's a pilot?
A pilot is an episode that's made in advance of the series order as a proof-of-concept for the network.
In this case the first episode (called "Premiere," not "Pilot") was simply part of the initial series order. As LoadStar said, it was filmed along with Episode 3 (although I think it was a later episode, 7 or 8; that may just be because they showed them out of order--the whole first section of the first season was pretty screwed up for a lot of reasons that I can't remember). And apparently, they were still building sets and designing costumes well into the first season; if they had had to make a pilot, they probably would have done all that then.
