I had a Western Digital external expander on my TiVo HD.
I replaced the HD with the Bolt.
Can I use the old expander with the Bolt?
What will happen when I plug it in? There were no options to reformat on the HD when I shut it down.

I don't want to lose my recordings on the Bolt.

You will not lose the recordings on the Bolt.
It SHOULD ask you if you want to set it up for use at which point it will reformat the Expander drive.
After that should you remove the Expander from the Bolt, or should it fail, and you'll lose all the recordings made after the Expander was installed on the Bolt.

Me? I'd just upgrade the Bolt internal drive to the max and avoid the Expander.

I already have the 1T Bolt. The expander is also 1T.

If it were me, I'd remove the 1TB from the Bolt and install a 3TB.. safer in the long run, and a very quick upgrade.

How did you upgrade to 3T? What drive did you install, and are there vidoe instructions?
