Kinda reminds me of Charlie Brown and Lucy. "Here, have another six episodes after next season."

[pulls ball out of Charlie's path]

    "FOOLED YA!!!"

While this certainly seems like an intractable problem, I'm sure Sheriff Carter will find a way to make it right.

When every celebrity has a Twitter account, that's just SyFy being prudent. Many of them have been around the block. By now, they'll know to have backup plans and stash some money aside for the unexpected end of a contract.

You're right. For some reason Kavan Smith reminds me of Ted McGinley.

Bringing in the redhead and letting her have 50% of the screen time has hurt the show.

Is Eureka really SyFy's highest rated show?

Does SyFy show wrestling? How many channels think they need to show wrestling?

No....latest ratings show Warehouse 13 beating it (and that's just for Monday night shows)...

Even figuring in DVRs, WH 13 and Alphas have been beating it...

Felicia Day retweeted a link from the Eureka writers indicating that they have the rest of this season, a Christmas episode, and 12 more episodes in the next season before the show wraps. That should help give them a chance to wrap things up. I'm not thrilled that its being canceled but at least they have a chance to go out in a way they want to.

They've already filmed 10 of those 12 episodes, and the remaining 2 episodes have scripts written and are in pre-production. It's likely too late to change those. (Filming for season 5 began well before season 4.5 started airing.)

Since Eureka must be the second or third highest rated show on the Syfy channel, why owuld they cancel it unless they had a compelling reason. Any ideas? ...actors want too much money... I don't know.

I think it used to be, before Warehouse 13 came along.

As I pointed out in a previous post, Alphas and WH13 ratings are beating it on Mondays....and I would imagine there are other SyFy shows on other nights that give it a run for its money.

I'm just as disappointed as anyone that it's going away, but, even the most rabid Eureka fan has to admit that it's lost the first couple seasons' spark...

    Actually, I don't have to admit that, because I don't agree. :)

Neither do I. I think people get used to a unique show so they "think" it lost its spark.

Well, obviously many of Eureka's former viewers agree with me since ratings are down from the first few seasons...

It also could be because they shelved the series for almost a year. Viewers almost invariably wander off when that happens.
