Is not the GD building protected by some sort of electronic barrier? I recall the barrier had to be disabled to let the nanites in the form on multiple Nathans get out of the building. I would assume that the same barrier is in effect on their computers and electronics. Or not....it in and of itself should be the most secure computer system in the world since GD is the most advanced research center in the world, or so they say.

This is what the closed captioning said as well.

I was hoping once we got into a second season, the show would go beyond "High tech device runs amok" every week.

I still have hopes that it will.

OK, I didn't pad my recording, so I missed the last few minutes. What happened after they figured out it was the weather guy?

Zoe's birthday party, Carter turns down a semi "let's get back together" offer from his ex, cut to Nathan and Allison schmoozing leaving Carter feeling left out.

I liked this episode a couple things though...

    1. The ex-wife is a very selfish person. Just because she is lonely she is going rip Zoey out of an positive environment that she is benefiting from. To watch the entire town show up for a surprise party and then decide that the best course of action would be to force her to leave is just sheer stupidity. It was very evident that she no longer knows her daughter when the ex-wife thought Zoey ran away.

    2. Since the ex-wife is a shrink I am afraid that they are going to do away with the current shrink and have her stay. Where it would make for some interesting watching from the soap opera "Will they won't they" angle between the Sheriff and Allison I think it would hurt the story arch they have been building since last season.

We don't know that Zoe is actually going to go. They said they had agreed to let her live with Carter for one year and the year was up, sure, but I don't see her leaving. That would leave Carter with no at home/family dynamic at all, other than Sarah. There needs to be that additional non genius around IMO.

I don't see the town shrink (why can I never remember her name?) leaving as she is most certainly a DOD mole. What good would a "normal" shrink be when the only reason Eureka has one in the first place is to keep tabs on what is in peoples minds as relates to Global Dynamics? She also keeps tabs on the visitors via the B&B.
IMO the shrink is more security personnel than medical staff.

Still, the ex was there for a reason, though it just might have been as simple as couterpoint to Nathan and Allison. I hope that's all she was as I did not care for her at all.
Good point about the whole town showing up for the party. Zoe and Carter can use that when they convince her to go home alone.

We see Zoe, so I'm guessing she stays.

Anyone else how Zoe now looks less goth than she used to? (maybe it wasn't goth, but something dark)

I also thought she was beginning to look a bit thin... :-(

One other thing about her.....she seems a lot older to me this season....but then I find out that the actress (Jordan Hinson) really is only 16. Go figure.

That movie more than 20 years old....I wouldn't expect her to look as great as she did then.... It does look like she has had some work done....probably not for the better.

But Conan the Destroyer....what a great movie!

Ok, so I heard it wrong. :)

There was someone else who heard 517, so at least I wasn't alone! :p

I thought I had put a smiley there, but I guess the click didn't take or something. Yes,I know it has been 20 years or so.

[off topic] I really expect since he did such a great job in that movie, that Wilt Chamberlain would have gone on to do more movies. He was more fun to watch than Arnie! Oh well, it was not to be.[/off topic]

I thought her primary complaint about Carter was just short of a lie. She said he was never there, and that his job came before his family. This seems plausible, BUT, for the last year, he has been Zoe's only parent and he has been there for her. His ex hasn't been there so she hasn't seen that. She does not know that he has changed. Her comments were based on history, not on current events. It is far more likely that SHE is the one who hasn't changed.

I really don't think Beverly is a mole for the DOD, I think she is a spy working for an enemy. She is gathering intelligence, not just keeping track of stuff for the government.

I heard 517, and it was so clear I didn't feel the need to go back and listen or turn on the captioning...

Kinda makes you wonder about all the other dialogue you're misunderstanding from every show you watch, doesn't it? :p

That would be ECW's fault, the inane "live wresting" show that scifi runs after the first showing of Eureka.

Never in my life have I understood why "SciFi" runs a live wresting show.

I think that is just when GD is in some sort of Lockdown mode.

And on the number of job offers debate... while I don't remember the exact number I heard, I do remember it was absurdly large. So, put me in the 517 camp.

Because wrestling attracts the same crowd that watches "Croc 3"

... because there were so many unanswered questions from Croc 1 and Croc 2...
