What is surprising to me is as popular as that show was there are no stations broadcasting it in syndication. Not any regular channels I know of, perhaps on some streaming services? Heck so long ago it would probably be like watching the series fresh for me.

It's been in recent syndication, but only via cable and satellite on the Pop channel. But never via OTA channels. Even if it was available, it probably would've been too pricey a show for stations to acquire.

I see. I have cable and OTA but have never heard of Pop channel, not on Comcast I guess (I will check though.) Was a good show. There was another medical show around the same time, think it was called Chicago Hope? I liked that one also.

Comcast does have Pop. But part of "preferred" package, not the basic cable "extra" package. Extra is around $100 with fees already, not gonna pay 'em even more for preferred ;)

It's on Pop all day during the weekends. I remember ER being on syndication some years ago, on Saturday or Sunday night after the local news.

ER and Chicago Hope both started in 1994. Chicago Hope only ran until 2000, while ER ran until 2009.

Another great medical show was St. Elsewhere, which ran from 1982 to 1988.

If I recall correctly ER and Chicago Hope premiered opposite each other (and I had to tape one and watch the other live). Originally I liked Hope better, but ER just was a bit different while Hope was more of a traditional medical drama. I loved St. Elsewhere, and some fairly famous actors came out of it. Denzell Washington becoming the most accomplished, but also Ed Begley Jr, Howie Mandel (though he was already well known doing stand up), David Morse and Mark Harmon. And I'm sure if I looked hard enough, there were probably a bunch of cameos from other famous stars. I do remember, since it took place in Boston, that a few of the characters went to Cheers once.

Elsewhere was great. Not sure but don't think they had a satisfactory "wrap up". Maybe they got cancelled or maybe I don't remember correctly. I also kinda liked Chicago Hope a bit more than ER, probably because of Mandy Patinkin. Don't remember if CH had a wrap up episode/season either. Too many shows nowadays, you watch for years then they get cancelled with no wrap up, all unanswered questions. I may sue the networks for wasting years of my viewing, canning shows with no conclusion ;)

OK... quick check of Wikipeda seems to indicate it's on Hulu

Or is that not the case anymore?

oh, it had wrap up.. Don't you remember what it was? though maybe not exactly what you call "satisfying"

it was all a dream in the mind of an autistic child. (Dr. Westphall's kid)

Wasn't it St. Elsewhere that had the (in?)famous finale where it turns out it was all imagined by a character's autistic son and the chief resident was actually a construction worker or something?

ER is a Warner Bros production. I expect it will arrive on HBO Max some day after the Hulu deal is finished.

It's on Hulu.. but I bought it on Vudu. It's still there for $50 for the full series.
