I just want to send a video file to my Roamio. I've read that mp4 and mpg are compatible. I used to be able to use Tivo Desktop with my old HD, but it doesn't seem to show up on My Shows on the Roamio. Is there another way? Or am I just having some glitch with Desktop (running Windows 7)? Do I need to buy the $16 Desktop version? Thanks

TiVo Desktop should work the same on your Roamio as it did on your HD. If it's not showing up then it's likely a firewall issue on the PC. (try temporarily disabling it, that's usually the easiest way to get it working)

TiVo Desktop will only work with MPEG-2 video files unless you upgrade to the $16 Plus version) But instead of doing that you should look into pyTiVo. It's free and will work with almost any file. It's a bit of a pain to setup, but once it's working you shouldn't need to kess with it much.

PyTiVo. Free, multi-platform, reliable, multi-format, problem solved!
