DVR DSR-704 & FIOS

    I just changed from dtv to vios...and yes I should have asked first...but now I can;t use my dvr and verision is telling me that it will never work with it.

    I find it hard to believe this in this tech word....anybody have a solution?

    No way around it your DVR only has direct TV DBS tuners in it will not work with anything else. To work with FIOS it would need digital cable tuners plus cable cards.

    And Welcome to TCF.

    The Tivo unit you have is a combination DirecTV Receiver w/Tivo software. As such, you without Directv service, all you can do with the box is to playback what is already recorded.

    This is indicated in the owners manual.

    This is indicated in several threads on this forum.

    Your choices?

    Buy a new Tivo Series 3 that allows you to records over the air broadcast channels and your FIOS by Verizon Channels.

    Sell the Directv boxes on Craigs List or eBay to offset the cost of you new FIOS compatible Tivos.
