Occasionally I want to make a DVD from Tivo a recording or from other sources (ie home videos). Looking for some decent DVD software (Free or paid), that will create a DVD with basic navigation\chapter menus and most importantly, the DVD will play in most standalone players.

    Recommendations or suggestions?

There are LOTS of choices for this, and I had tested/played with many of them in the past (10-15 years ago, so nothing current). What I eventually settled on and used to create many thousands of DVDs for my home library was VideoReDo. I still use it occasionally, and it is still an exceptional program, even though I am using an older release. If I recall, the price is/was quite reasonable. The only downside of VRD is that it can be complex with all the possible options and setting, but it really works great to edit and convert any TiVo files downloaded with pyTivo to either DVD or HDD storage.

I also use an Hauppaugue HD-PVR to capture HD video from my older TiVo and create Blu-ray compatible discs This device came with software to do that. The product is still available, but I know the included software has changed - no experience with the newer stuff. I rarely burn discs anymore.

I like to start by using Tivo Decoder (with the GUI windows) to turn my Tivo movie to an mpeg. Then I use Winavi (extremely bleeding fast) to convert to a DVD movie with chapters and DVD folders. Then I simply drag/drop the folders and movie into my DVD burner software. I like Nero, but I think Windows 10 has it's own now.
If you get stuck somewhere, post up some questions. We'll talk you through it.

I do have an older version of Video Redo, I might just upgrade and use that. Seemed to work pretty well as I recall.

I used to use Video Redo. Worked great for me and there's plenty of help here on the forum if you get stuck with anything.
