It's the DCU. Almost everything they do is dark except for the shows on the CW, and even those have rare haha moments. I'm starting to wonder if the writers at DC know what a sense of humor is. I think most of them must be in therapy (if not then they probably should be). I loved it when even Deadpool made a crack about things being dark and being in the DC Universe.

Perhaps lighthearted wasn’t really the correct word. I meant comedic. Most of the episodes so far have had a good number of comedic scenes in them, unless you though they were being serious with Admiral Whiskers. Even Doom Patrol Patrol. Jane Patrol had no comedy in it at all. It was just a very dark dramatic episode.

Marvel deals with dark subjects also but they understand that you need to inject some humor along with the drama. There are a handful of lols in just about every Marvel project, at least the ones that I've seen.

Can't say that Beard Patrol was my favorite episode. Or even close.

If you're asking if all the new shows on DC Universe are animated, the answer is "no". In particular, Doom Patrol is live-action.

Enjoyed this show quite a bit. I hope they do a second season. They certainly set up a second one nicely.

I had a hard time finishing the season. It started off great then went way downhill, came back for a couple of episodes then went downhill some more.

I wouldn’t mind a 2nd season, as I liked the beginning of the season, but shorten it to 8 episodes

This is definitely one of the quirkiest shows I've ever seen. It's not always easy to follow the plot because sometimes it seems like they like to take wide detours and go completely off the rails. I do like how they mixed the rat and the cockroach into the finale. I think Ezekiel is one of my favorite characters on the show, even though it doesn't appear he'll be back for season 2.

This is great news. It's a shame that Swamp Thing met an early demise. I wonder if they'll regroup and start it back up with other people running it since the current ones don't seem to be getting along due to creative differences. The DCU is pushing the envelope on their shows and I'm loving it. I can't wait for them to introduce more live shows to their lineup.

...although making it creatively different probably wouldn't be a good thing, considering how good it is now...

Next week is apparently taken from The Anatomy Lesson, which some consider to be one of if not the best single issues of a comic of all time.

Sounds like I should start watching Swamp Thing again. It completely fell off my radar after the first episode.

I don't have DCU, but I did have HBO Now, which converted to HBO Max when it went live a week ago. I was scrolling through the content and noticed there was more content on the TV side that wasn't HBO shows and saw this one. Decided to give it a watch and really enjoyed it. There were a couple episodes in the middle that drug a little for me, but before and after were great. I had not been following anything with the DCU streaming service, so after watching this I was doing some searching and came across Titans. Unfortunately that show is not part of HBO Max.

Harley Quinn is being aired on Syfy (censored, though). Stargirl is being shown on the CW (edited for time) and Swamp Thing is going to be shown on the CW in the fall.

Really? She says "This must be where you **** the bats"?

EDIT: Apparently this place is censored. Imagine that those stars weren't there...
