I’d love to see River Song, but I think I love the idea of a clean start even more.
Not sure if he had a family wanting closure - lack of family and estrangement was an episode theme.
Ryan's father did not turn up for Ryan's grandmother funeral, Ryan does not acknowledge his grandmother's second husband as his grandfather.
Yasmin asked the Doctor "Have you got a family?" and she said "No"
Rahul, the guy in a question left a "If I die click here" file on his computer but when it was opened it wasn't along the lines of 'tell my mum I love her' it was "If anything happens to me, her name was Asha." the Doctor looked at an image that only had him and his sister and said "She was his family". There was also another image in the workshop that was seemingly only of a young Rahul and his sister but no mother, father etc.
But for sure Yasmin the cop would be willing to drag the body to be found elsewhere if it helped the Doctor, already she has covered up from her superior officers she was on the train. I expect her to be making an illegal inquiry for the Doctor on the PNC [Police National Computer] in a further episode.
Anyone else get a strong "Nanu, nanu!" vibe from the new Doctor's chosen outfit?
EDIT: Apparently I'm not the only one:
I thought that immediately.
It's what the well-dressed alien is wearing this season[*].
[*]Season is not measured using an Earth calendar.
I've been wondering if the forest Ryan's bike wound up in was the same forest where they filmed the 13th Doctor reveal video.
Well, the babbling thing was kind of a thing Tennant's Doctor did a bit anyway, so that wasn't out of character for the Doctor. I'd say that even through the entire monologue with the Sycorax, he was still very much being the Doctor. But regardless, remember the bit in the middle of the episode where they woke him up to deal with the "pilot fish" - I'd say that shows that he was "the Doctor" throughout the episode.
Yes, he napped a bit, but apparently so did this new Doctor. They just didn't show as much of it in the episode.
Maybe one of the reasons why the Doctor knew he was the Doctor near the start of the Sycorax Christmas Invasion is he was with people who knew he was the Doctor and they told/reminded him.
And the reason why at the end of The Woman Who Fell to Earth the Doctor still does not know she is the Doctor is none of the people know she is the Doctor - not even the new monster- old monsters are often quick at identifying even a regenerated Doctor.
Very much this. This was one of the best after regeneration episodes I recall. I enjoyed it very much, overall. There were holes you could put a truck through but that's not uncommon in Doctor Who. I felt like Jodi settled into The Doctor right away. It felt like The Doctor. I recall it took Matt Smith and Peter Capaldi a while to settle in.
I loved her Capaldi wardrobe but the one they chose for her Doctor is silly looking. The long coat with hood is ok but the high water pants and the shirt just don't look good, IMO.
I can't even begin to express how much I love the shirt. It's like the Doctor read all the internet comments about how the show is ruined now that there's a female Doctor and said "Right...just for that, I'm wearing a rainbow!".
It's a little odd...in the rebooted show, they pretty much got away from the OG show's "Doctor only has one change of clothes" thing, giving them different clothing that fit within the same design sensibility. But this one seems to have...only one change of clothes.
Early days, though...
