But why "timeless"? Time seems to pass at the same rate for the timeless child as everyone else. What's "timeless" about the child? Deathless child maybe.

Well, she's older than the Time Lords...

It seems like this would conflict with what we saw in "The Name of the Doctor," in which Clara stepped into the time stream and was injected into every point throughout the Doctor's life. It would seem that when she did that, she would have encountered the fact that there were pre-Hartnell Doctors, and all that.

Maybe she was only able to connect with this set of regenerations. When the Time Lords babied him into Li'l Hartnell, that created a psychic barrier she wasn't able to get past. :D

Not if the Doctor wasn’t the Doctor before Hartnell. She didn’t see the War Doctor either if I recall.

I’m more interested in how they’ll resolve the extra Tardis next year.

Stepping out of the show for a moment, I have a vague recollection that the reason John Hurt was the War Doctor was because they couldn't get Christopher Ecceleston back...am I remembering that correctly?

Where's the Dislike button? Of course, it couldn't possibly be that the actors who play Yaz and Ryan auditioned the best for the job. Nope, they were handed the jobs over more qualified white actors simply because someone wanted token, diversity hires. Jeez, what is this the 1960s?

I still don’t like how Yaz treated Grahm in a few episodes.
I was expecting her to say “OK Boomer”

Where in my post did I mention quotas or affirmative action or anything like that? I didn’t even mention the actors. I was taking about the characters.

I simply said the show runners seemed to want a diverse cast so that they could have episodes like Rosa and Demons of the Punjab and then didn’t seem to know what to do with said characters after that.

The actors who auditioned for Yaz, Ryan, et al are probably the best for those characters, but there’s no way they are the best actors for any character. Or do you think actors are auditioned with no consideration as to what part they are supposed to play?

For example, it was decided a head of time that the current doctor would be a woman. That was made prior to even beginning auditions for last season, so Jodie Whittaker didn’t beat out a man for the part, she beat out other women. That’s not sexist, that’s just a statement of fact.

Perhaps but comparing a major direction change like making the Doctor a woman to casting companions who may or may not be ethnic is dubious. It’s not like Doctor Who hasn’t had diverse companions before or anything.
